Earthquake

Ok so this poem is older but I still like it.

Joy.

Champagne on my lips.

Celebrating.

Wait...

What was that?

Rumble, rumble.

Shake, shake.

Crumble.

Earthquake!

Run outside.

The ground is paper,

Torn and crumbled,

Ripping from one side,

To the other.

earthquake.

where to go?

Not back home.

Far.

Somewhere far,

Far away.

Liquid fire flows from the rip in our universe,

Spreading like quicksilver.

earthquake.

Fear.

Growing like the beanstalk,

So fast, I wish I could climb it,

But I can't.

I stay here,

Hear screams,

The world is broken in two,

Covered in flames,

Covered in fire.

Buildings crumble.

Fall into broken heaps of twisted metal and shattered concrete.

I see pain,

Shone like beakons for all,

In their eyes.

Fear,

Fear too.

Hope.

I search for it,

In every corner of my soul,

I come up empty.

What chance do we have,

When we have no hope?
