I recently had the unique opportunity to interview someone who exemplifies what I refer to as a "closet" writer. By a "closet" writer, I mean a writer who is virtually unknown except by a few dedicated readers or followers. Such writers and their readers often connect on internet sites such as Wattpad. Their followers, usually writers as well, take it upon themselves to seek out such unknown talented authors who are the diametrically opposing counterparts to the Stephen Kings and James Pattersons of the world.

Many "closet" authors will lock themselves into a room, sometimes for hours on end, late into the wee hours of sunrise, typing away on their computers as they unlock their latest short story or novel page by page. Quite often, the families and closest friends of these authors have no idea of the stories and ideas that are written by someone who they think they know so well. One such writer is Michael DeFrancesco.

The following interview recently took place on the patio at his Connecticut home over coffee and croissants.
