In the next Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Professor Brentley and Junior Professor Humble decided that it was time the first years attempt making a Patronus. Professor Brentley's was a humongous fish and Tius' had a vicious dog erupt from the tip of his wand.
"Think of something happy," Professor Brentley said. "And then shout Expecto Patronum. If something silvery shoots out of your wand, you're almost there. Oh, look at that!"
Maddie's wand had put out a silvery vapor. Suddenly, Laurel shouted, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" and an animal left her wand.
"Why, Miss Laurel Hare has gotten a full fledged Patronus!" exclaimed Professor Brentley. Tius turned to see Laurel's Patronus dissipate.
"Why, that's a lion!" Tius shouted.
Everybody in the Gryffindor house turned to see Laurel's Patronus erupt from her wand once again. Everyone was amazed by the lion that left her wand.
"The last person in recorded history to have a lion for a Patronus was... Godric Gryffindor!" Everybody clapped. "Amazing, Miss Hare. Amazing!"
Laurel smiled and nodded as everybody clapped, led by Professor Brentley and Tius. She was so proud and simply couldn't wait to go to the Christmas dance.
