Nine months. 3/4 of a year. That's how long their dad has been gone. After six months Josie gave up, she believed he was dead. John B held on though. They said he was in denial. It didn't make sense though, their father was the last person to ever be lost at sea. Josie was always closer to their dad than John B was. So when he went missing she shut down for two months. John B always convinced her that he was going to come back. And she believed until one night she snapped and gave up

~flash back~

"John B!" Josie yelled walking into the house. He was the only person she would talk to besides JJ

She shut everyone else out and quit her job at 'The Wreck'

"In here!" John B answered, Josie following his voice into his room

"Okay so, dad was always going on about the Royal Merchant. So, what if he found it-". John B started but Josie cut him off

"Stop. Stop!" She sighed but he kept going "STOP, JOHN B! He is dead, God Dammit! He isn't coming back! He left and died! Dad is gone!" Josie screamed with her eyes brimming with tears

She had finally come to the fact that he wasn't coming back but John B wouldn't

"No! He is out there! He- he'll be back" John B yelled with a tear rolling down his cheek

"Johnny..." Josie sighed and walked up to him embracing him in a hug "I'm sorry,"

"No, no, no. He- he's alive and you know it" John B mumbled into her shoulder

"Sh, it's okay," she cried with him

~end of flashback~

"DCS! I know you're in there!" Some yelled waking up the two siblings sleeping in the pullout bed

After they found the compass they stayed up on the couch talking about it and their memories with their father. They both ended up falling asleep on the couch but JB snuck out to return the scuba gear. He came back and fell asleep on the couch again

"John, What the heck" Josie said looking at her brother who opened his eyes

They both looked at the window and JJ jumped bagging on the window

"Woah!" John B said not really awake yet

"Fuck you, JJ!" Josie mumbled and hurried her head into her pillow

"Gotcha, losers" JJ laughed "you should've seen your faces. It was like..." he went on making faces at the two

"I'm just saying, I don't understand why you don't at least try it with Kiara. She clearly likes you. She's like "oh, John B" " JJ says moaning

"Is that what she does?" John B asked looking at him while Josie leans her head in between the two form the back

"She's sketchy about you diving, and then she kissed you, bro" JJ went on

"She kissed me on the cheek. It's not like we were making out or something," John B said deafening himself

"Josie! You're her only girl friend. What does she say?" JJ asked looking back at her

"Well, she hasn't said anything yet. But we haven't had a girl in girl convo in a while. But I will say, it does seem like she likes you,"

"Yes! Low-hanging fruit, bro. Don't pretend that you don't notice. I see it in your eyes. Your like "I kinda like that," and you start blushing and shit" JJ ranted
