At sundown is when everything changes.
"Alaine! Make sure you put the bread in the cabinets please! Remember to put all the logos in order! I don't want another one missing. Stocked goods have been pretty low since more murder accidents have been happening."
I sigh deeply and look over my shoulder at my boss "Don't worry, I got it under control. I'll also double check the donuts, and the other sweets when I'm done."
"Alright then, don't cause to much trouble." He says
"Ok, good night." I say smiling while waving goodbye. He tips his hat and walks out the door. This is a lot to bare you know. For awhile now, surreal killers have been out on the loose since a lot of them broke out of jail recently. Just a few days ago a young woman around my age was killed. 36 stap wounds the police reported. Jesus Christ, what's this world coming too? After about 30 minutes or so, I begin to wrap up the shop. Closing the door I lock it. I then turn on my heel and start to walk home. The weather seems to be getting worse too.
I continue to walk down the street and turn a corner. I take out my phone to check the time. 10:56 it says. It really is late. I should get home pretty quickly. It's not to far from here. I'm kinda still young in age so a lot of my friends take me on too many blind dates. That's how some of these women out here are getting stabbed to death. Exposed to society. It's a shame really, I wonder what all those women's family think of all this. I mean, riots have been happening left and right. All of this has to be put to end soon enough.
As I turn another corner, I suddenly get chills down my spine. But strangely, it's not even cold outside. Then I get and even weirder feeling that someone's watching me. It maybe the darkness out here getting to me. I was never a fan of dark places when I was younger. I always wanted a night light cause I always felt like if I didn't have that light, something in the dark would come out and strangle me. It's freighting to even imagine something that petrifying. As I continue to walk I see a larger shadow behind me. It feels like its so big it's blocking the light from the moon. I walk faster unsure on how to make of this. I then see something else moving through the darkness. Another figure hiding, not too far from where I am. I try to make out who it is while trying to get away from whoever is behind me. Sadly it's too late, the shadow too, follows me even quicker. Then on instinct I start to run. I run as fast as I can. Closer and closer I get to my complex. I see it in front of me. At top speed I run to the door. Panicking, I try to get my keys out of my purse. From what it seems like forever I finally get them out. I quickly take a glance behind me. On the other side of the walk way I see a tall built figure standing in my direction. Seems as though there waiting; watching. They begin to take a step forward towards me and start to run. Fear engulfs my whole body. I manage to get into the door and shut it. As I quickly lock it, I see the man standing in front of me. The only thing that's separating us is the door. He has a black hood on and his face is unclear. All I can do is run up the flight of stairs and go into my own little apartment. I close the door in a long, disturbing sigh. I get a quick scan around the room. I make sure all the windows are locked and closed. My blinds shut and everything secure. Without even taking a simple care of removing my day clothes. I lay down my bed and fall asleep instantly when my head hits the pillows. After that day, my life will never be the same.
