Chapter 02

When Dr. Wang arrived at the cafe, he could feel the dark aura emitting from the man he's about to meet, from all the way to the entrance..

He quickly ordered him some coffee and a sandwich before slipping into the chair right in front of the said man..

"If you got a little bit late, we could've just had a nice brunch instead of breakfast.."

Dr. Wang folded his coat and put it on the chair next him in a neat position before replying to the snarky remark he received with the same amount of sarcasm..

"Not everyone has some free time in the morning like you do Lawyer Zhoucheng.. By the way, you look like shit today.."

Lawyer Zhoucheng had to gather all his willpower to stop himself from murdering the other man with the fork in his hand.. Instead he decided to ignore the first comment and answer the second one..

"Not everyone are as lucky as you to get a nice woman Dr. Wang Yibo."

For some reason, Zhoucheng felt as if he said the wrong thing so it was him who spoke again..

"Well, had a petty fight with my girlfriend right after I woke up.. That's why I'm not in a good mood today.."

Dr. Wang gave a sympathetic look and diverted his attention to his food when it was delivered to him right at that time..

"Anything new? I couldn't find anything at all.."

The atmosphere around them shifted into a tensed one with that question from Zhoucheng.. Dr. Wang put down his coffee cup before leaning against the chair with a series look on his face.. Lawyer Zhoucheng knew right away that something was up..

"I don't know if this could be taken as something important, but something did happen the day before yesterday.."

Zhoucheng felt his hopes rise up but he was too scared to keep hoping since it would hurt him more as time passes by..

"We had a small program for the children's day at our hospital.. Dr. Suyin was the one in charge so she asked me to visit the pediatric ward and meet the children since it was a special program for the children who are going through diseases like cancers and stuff.. The purpose was to improve their mental health and some kids who have already got cured from their diseases were there to cheer up the children.."

Flashback..

Dr. Wang wasn't the type that's familiar with a lot of words around the people that he doesn't know.. That includes children as well.. He didn't know if he could be any help in there but he couldn't say no to Dr. Suyin too..

He tried his best to communicate with the children and as time passes by, he was already surrounded by kids while he was also getting comfortable around them.. He thanked his parental instincts and his son at home for that to be honest.

He was looking at a drawing that a little boy was colouring as it reminded him of his son and he was focused on the drawing when he heard something familiar..

"You shouldn't give up didi.. You can do it.. Believe youself... See, everytime you feel sad and lonely, do it like this.. Talk to yourself and you'll feel better.."

Dr. Wang's eyes widened when he saw a little girl placing her hand against her heart and saying those words to another little boy who's looking at her feeling already lost since the words were too heavy for his age..

Dr. Wang didn't know what took over him but he was already crouching next to the girl and holding her hands with such despair that the little boy got scared and ran away while the girl also looked startled..
