The sound of my blaring alarm wakes me up. I quickly try to hit snooze but instead I accidentally drop my phone. "Great" I mutter. I reach down and grab my phone to check the time.  5:45 AM reads my clock. I spring out of bed. "No no no I only have 15 minutes to get ready!". I rush to the bathroom to wash my face and give my teeth a quick scrub. I toss my hair into a messy bun which does not turn out cute. "It's not like I'm dressing to impress" I whisper to myself as I put on my uniform. I look in mirror and study myself. The blue streak in my hair sticks out of my bun awkwardly. I have tried everything to get that streak out of my brown hair. My best friend since birth , Ava Jackson , convinced me to dye my hair. "It'll look cute" she said while messily applying the blue dye. I cried when I saw the results. It looked like an airhead. She giggled nervously and promised to buy me iced coffee for a year to make it up to me. After one last look at the streak I proceed to grab my phone and head downstairs. I work at my parents bakery on the weekends. My shift is at 6 A.M , which is when we open , but they like to get there earlier. I grab my car keys and make my way to my car.

I sit down and start the engine. As I am adjusting my mirror I spot my drawing from when I was 5 in the backseat . My eyes soften and I reach towards the paper. My heart warms at the memory behind the picture.  I love baking. When I was a little girl I remember being fascinated when I saw my parents making chocolate chip cookies, cakes, and bread. My parents were amazing at baking and for years they saved money to open a bakery. When I turned 5 my parents had finally had enough money. I remember being so excited that I could not sleep. In one of those nights when I was supposed to be sleeping I went to my small desk. I took out crayons and paper. I made a circle with a purple crayon. I drew small yellow stars in the circle. I named it "Galaxy Cookie" and begged my parents to put it in the menu. They were hesitant at first so I made a bargain. "If you put my cookies in the menu I will work at the bakery when I am 17 free of charge". They both laughed but saw my determination. "Okay sweetie" said my mom with a hint of laughter in her voice. Those cookies became the bakery's bestsellers. I take one final look at the drawing and laugh.

I turn on the radio and start singing along to the song. Many people say I'm quite good but I think they are not being truthful. As I am singing my heart out in the red light, the person in the car next to me looks at me in confusion. "Well that's a first" I laugh while driving away. Once I arrive at the bakery my parents rush and take me to the backroom. "Dad what is going on?" I ask in confusion. "You see that lady?" asks my dad. I peek over and see a women in her mid-forties talking on her phone looking irritated. I nod my head and my mom says "She wants a cake done by today but  after I explained our policy she threatened to shut us down". My face flushed in anger. "She can't do that. We have done nothing wrong!". "I know honey but she is a very influential person" said my dad. "Please honey make the cake and we'll even pay you. Me and dad are too busy with other orders right now" pleads my mom. "It's okay. You don't have to pay me. I love to bake and don't worry the cake will be done by the time she wants it." My parents smile and give me a hug. After a few seconds I break away to attend this so called influential person. I grit my teeth and smile. "Hi welcome to Anderson Bakery how may I help you" I say. She gives me a stink eye and motions for me to be quiet because she is on a call. I pretend to drop something so I can be alone with my thoughts. "Today is going to be great" I say as I roll my eyes.
