Oikawa's POV

A bunch of Oikawa's fangirls were spectating the morning practice on top of the balcony.

"Uwaaah, Oikawa-senpai isn't doing very well right now...!" one of Oikawa's fangirls gasped dramatically.

"Yeah...! He looked so happy early! I wonder what's on his mind~!" another girl pouted.

"Hey, maybe it's that girl... What's her name? (Y/n)-san...? They're usually hanging out, right?" someone else chimed in.

"Ohhh! Do you think they were dating?!" the first girl gasped again.

"But that wouldn't explain why he's off his game! Maybe he cheated on her!"

"Or maybe she cheated on him!"

"Or maybe he's SECRETLY in love with her!"

The three fangirls kept making up crazy (and stupid) theories about you and Oikawa until they were gossiping so loud. The brunette heard them and purposely sent a serve in the direction of the balcony.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!" they all screamed in unison.

"Crappykawa, don't do that," Iwaizumi rolled his eyes.

"Iwa-chan, I don't want these dumb rumours to go around. Might as well stop them before they get out," Oikawa stuck out his tongue at Iwaizumi.

Secretly, deep down, he was asking himself if he wanted the first theory to be a reality.

The school day was boring and uneventful, and you were avoiding him. Oikawa expected this, but it felt more painful experiencing it. He didn't even get to talk to Yuri because she was hanging out with you, but right now, he was focused on thinking of ways to apologize. Just the thought of talking to you made the brunette nervous. He didn't want to hurt you...

But what did he want, truly?

The following bold letters are a recap from Hurricane (Chapter 9).

"Is this because you think I'd ask Yuri? Do you really think she matters the most to me?" he asked quietly.

"That, and volleyball!" you answered grumpily.

"Well, you matter too!" he exclaimed.

"You were just using me to get to my best friend. Oikawa, really, whatever this- whatever we were doing, it's done. I don't want to do it anymore. It's the best for both of us."

"(Y/n)-chan!!"

Goddammit, Tooru, Oikawa thought harshly, why do you always have to screw things up!?

During Oikawa's date with Yuri, it was so awkward walking there without you. Oikawa and Yuri had nothing to talk about. Nothing to say, and nothing to do, so they just walked side-by-side in silence.

"Erm... So... Oikawa-san... How was.. volleyball practice?" Yuri attempted to make small talk and internally slapped herself.

"I wasn't focused at all. There were a bunch of fangirls making all sorts of assumptions on the balcony!" Oikawa pouted.

"Mmm... That... sucks," Yuri replied, and slapped herself internally again.

Oikawa laughed nervously in agreement.

"...Uhh... What happened with (Y/n)?" Yuri said, satisfied with her question.

"She got mad at me."

"Ah.. I expected that."

"What do you mean?"

"Well," Yuri paused, "you really hurt her... Which brings me to why I brought you on this... 'date.'"

"Eh?"

"I don't actually like you Oikawa, and I never will. I came here to talk about...
(Y/n)."

At this moment they reached the café, so Yuri walked inside Oikawa and grudgingly trailed behind her.

"So, I noticed that (Y/n) was attempting to set me up with you," Yuri scowled.

"Wha- How did you find out?! She wasn't even that obvious!" Oikawa flailed his arms around wildly.

"You told me just now," Yuri snickered.

"Uwahh.. darn..."

"Oikawa-san, I'm sorry but I can never catch feelings for you, so I advise you to go for someone you can actually get. How do you even feel about (Y/n) anyway? You guys seem close enough to be a couple!"

"You're just being a pushy match-maker," Oikawa pouted.

To be honest, Oikawa never thought about how he felt about you. Did he like you? Only like using you? He even considered for a split second that he could love you...

Okay, so probably more than a split second. He thought about it for a long time and his face turned into a tomato.

"Told you," Yuri said smugly.

"Whaaaat.... WHAAAAAAAAAT??"
