A month passed after Kuroo met Taiji's family.

A cloudy afternoon, perfect weather. The boys were having their usual practice.

Just then, a set of fast footsteps passed the gym. Kuroo could see a familiar head zipping by, seemingly in distress.

"Kuroo!" Coach Nekomata scolded, "Focus!"

"Sorry, coach."

~~~
"Is it just me, or did anyone else notice Taiji running out earlier." Yamamoto piped up as everyone was changing.
This caught Kuroo's attention, he wasn't imagining it?
"You noticed it too, Yamamoto?" Kuroo tilted his head.
"Yea, and she looked like she was in a hurry."
Kuroo quickly got his bag and ran straight to the girls' gym. Most of the girls were just leaving the changing rooms with concerned looks on their faces.
"Did you see how upset she was when she received that call?" Kuroo could hear the first years whispering, "She literally started running once coach excused her."
Kuroo furrowed his eyebrows, what could have made her so upset?
Yuko noticed Kuroo and quickly ran over to greet him, "Taiji left a while ago if you're looking for her."
"I saw her leaving earlier, what happened?" The 3rd-years started walking towards the school gate.
The few were joined by some of the boys, "Well, We were just about to continue practice when Taiji's phone started ringing."
"Is this about Taiji-senpai?" Lev suddenly interrupted, which earned him scolding from Yaku.
"I only heard part of the call," Yuko continued, "Apparently it was from the hospital."
There was a moment of silence after, everyone was worried about what might have happened to Taiji that she had to rush to the hospital.
On the walk to the train station, Kuroo tried to call the female captain, but the calls went right into voicemail.
To: Pretty captain
[6:23 p.m]: Are you okay?
[6:23 p.m]: Please text me back, everyone is worried about you.
[6:24 p.m]: Call me back soon.
Kuroo sighed, unsure of what to do.
~~~

The tall bedhead stared at his plate, picking at the rice. His grandmother could see something was up, as Kuroo wasn't the type to have a small appetite.

"I've had enough of you sulking," Kuroo's grandmother grabbed the plate away from the quiet boy, "What happened?"

Kuroo sighed, "Something happened to Taiji, she's at the hospital."

"Oh no, did she get into an accident?"

"No, She got a call from the hos—"

Kuroo was cut off with a smack to the head by his grandmother, "So she's not injured! I'm sure she'll call you back as soon as she can. You just have to trust her."

Kuroo sighed again, "You're right, She's fine."

"Damn right I am," his grandmother laughed, "Now finish your dinner and go for a walk or something to clear your mind."
