Loki's POV

Her question didn't take me by surprise, I just wasn't expecting it at that moment.

When I first saw her ride up the mountain moments ago, she looked so calm and collected. She stopped, dismounted her horse, and proceeded to stand at the bank of the river. The wind was blowing her loose, long, brown hair in a way that made her look enchanting... magical even.

She failed to notice my presence sitting a mere ten metres behind her. I'll admit she was the most beautiful maiden I had ever laid my eyes on. But there was something there, something underneath her attractive exterior pulling me towards her. Something unnaturally familiar.

By the time this information settled in my mind, she broke down right in front of my eyes. It was like a dam broke and all the built-up water fell, very suddenly. She changed from a regal woman to a young girl, looking vulnerable, broken and fragile. Someone who needed comfort. I had this unexplainable urge to go to her, comfort her, tell her everything was going to be alright. Don't ask me why I just did. I searched my mind for a reason and found nothing. Only the fact that it was not a threat to me or to her. This information was enough to reassure me that this was safe. So, I approached her, resulting in where we are now.

Who would trust the God of Mischief and Lies? Generally, among all Asgardians, it would be foolish to trust me. I have a reputation for betraying people. For the same reason, I approached (Y/N). However, I also couldn't bring myself to even think about betraying her.

After remaining silent for a few moments, I answered her. "I know I am the God of Mischief and Lies, and you have every right to doubt my trust, but please, I beg of you, trust me. I want nothing but to help you, Lady (Y/N)." My voice was filled with longing and at this moment was fuelled with the hope of her trust. I was surprised at how quickly my mind let my guard down around (Y/N). My mind was surprised but my heart wasn't. I was still a little conflicted at this point but my urge to help (Y/N) overpowered it tremendously.

"I trust you, Loki" She let out a soft chuckle and continued, "and believe me, I am no lady." She took a deep breath. "My prince, I do not want to become a burden to you, or a weight placed on your shoulders. You obviously have other matters to attend to – being a prince of Asgard – and I do not wish to add to that." Her eyes, the most beautiful brown, stared into mine. I saw a rosy pink colour envelope her cheeks and in embarrassment, she turned her gaze towards the sunset and whispered, "It's almost nightfall..."

Following her gaze, I stared out at the sunset. We were standing at the highest point in Asgard, hidden in the mountains. I came up here with my mother to practice my magic ever since I was a child, and never did I ever see (Y/N). If I did I would have surely remembered her. My attention returned to the sunset. It was captivating, glistening off the Asgardian Sea near the Bifrost.

I heard her whisper, "It's really beautiful." She said it in the softest, most delicate and angelic voice I had ever heard. I tilted my head to look at her and I got lost in her eyes again. She was truly beautiful. She was still looking out towards the sunset when I replied, whispering, "It really is."

Acknowledging my words, she turned to face me and realised that I wasn't talking about the sunset, I was talking about her. She bowed her head down in embarrassment, this was the first time I saw her smile. It was a real smile, one that reached her radiant brown eyes. She was truly breath-taking.

Suddenly, she blinked her eyes and shook her head as if she was just released from a trance. "The sun is setting... I have to go, Loki. My mother will kill me if I am not home by nightfall." With that, she started walking towards her horse. I followed her, grabbed her hand as she started to pick up her pace to halt her so I could let her know of an idea that was formulating in my mind.

"Loki I really have to go." She tried to remove her hand from my grasp, but I held my grip, making sure it wouldn't hurt her.

"(Y/N), please just wait another moment, I have a proposal for you."

"Alright but please be quick Loki, I have to get back by the time the sun sets."

"Tomorrow, about an hour earlier than today, meet me here. We will have more time and you can tell me what happened to make you cry. This is only a suggestion; you don't have to come. If you chose to do so, I will be here until sunset, waiting for you. If you don't come, I vow to never bother you again. Is this alright with you?"

She just nodded and I took that as a good sign. At least, that's what I hoped it was. "Would you like me to accompany you back to your dwelling?"

"I would appreciate it."

"Of course. Give me a moment and I will return with my horse." I turned towards my horse, he was hidden behind the trees.

"Loki?" I tilted my head to look back at her.

"Thank you."
