Part 12: A New Start

Lapis Pov:

I sit up slowly as I'm awoken by the sound of Peridot's alarm going off, I stretch slightly and get up, heading to the bathroom where I brush my teeth. walking out of the bathroom I pass by Peridot, she's looking down at the floor slightly, though it looked as though she was blushing. Going back into my room I pulled open my dresser and took out some clothes, getting dressed and making my way downstairs and into the kitchen, grabbing some food and eating as I sat down.

As I go to the door to head out to school I notice Peridot coming down the stairs, still looking at the floor. I wonder if something's up with her. I walk outside and close the door behind me, starting to make my way to school.

Arriving at school I head straight to my first class, sitting down and idly staring down at my desk as I rest my head on my hand, after a few minutes the teacher comes in and class starts, though I just stare down at my desk the whole time, not like this class was that interesting anyway. I pay a bit more attention in my next class since it's at least a little interesting. I guess school's never really been that appealing to me, I mean I don't even know what I want to do when I leave.

Once lunch comes around I head out of my class and into the cafeteria, taking a seat by myself at one of the tables in the corner of the room where nobody else really sits. As I'm pulling my drink out of my bag I look up and see Peridot sitting across from me,

"Uhh, hey Lapis, mind if I sit here?" I shrug as I place my drink down on the table,

"Sure, go ahead" she blushes slightly and fidgets with her hands as she sits down across from me,

"S-so, um, I know we kinda got off on the wrong foot, b-but, I, um, was hoping that we could, um, be f-friends..." I stare down at the table for a second before looking up at her,

"Peridot, I already told you that I think we should avoid each other for now, I appreciate that you apologised, and even got me that gift, but I'm not sure if it would work out for us to be friends" she looks down at her hands, staying silent for a second before speaking quietly,

"I... I know, I just thought that... since we're living together, it would be good for us to be... friends..."

I look at her for a moment, she's fidgeting with her hands and her face is slightly red, I sit and think for a second, well, I suppose she has been nice to me since I got here, and she kept her word and never told Jasper I was here, so, I guess it wouldn't hurt to at least give being friends with her a chance. After a second of thinking I sigh and look up at her face,

"Fine, Peridot, I guess I'll give being friends with you a chance" her head shoots up with a happy look in her eyes ,

"Y-you will? oh stars, thank you!" A slight smile spreads across her face as she speaks,

"Uh, you're welcome I guess" we sit in silence as we eat, which is a little awkward. Well I suppose it would be after that conversation.

When I finish eating an idea pops into my head, I throw my trash away and walk back over to the table,

"Hey, Peridot, umm... would you, maybe like to go somewhere after school?" she looks up at me, her face a similar shade of red to what i thought I saw this morning,

"O-oh, u-umm sure yeah, I'd love to" I nod as I stand up,

"So, meet you at the door after school?" she nods back with the slight smile still on her face,

"Y-yeah, of course". I walk out of the cafeteria and into my next class where I sit down and wait for the bell to ring. Once it does, I lean my head back on my hand and just idly stare at the front of the room, waiting for the class to end.
