Chapter 154: A Crashed Plane

Start from the beginning

“Come off it, little Ivan. My business is not yours to pry into.”

“Oh my God! What is this tone?” Ivanov’s face contorted as if he’d swallowed a fly. Pointing at Chen An, he said in an accusatory tone, “Baby, I didn’t know you were a Stockholm case! How can you accept Lu Feng after what he’d done to you?”

Chen An wasn’t someone to easily let go of a grudge. So there could only be one possible reason for him to not mind being with Lu Feng: he’d forgiven him and accepted him.

Ivanov felt his heart could burst from the sourness within. All the romantic days they’d spent on the sea! As soon as this man turned around, he threw himself into the arms of Lu Feng! So wanton! He never thought this cold exterior harbored a heart of such wantonness!

“Better than a hairy bear such as yourself.”

“You break my heart by saying that.” Ivanov then pointed at Chen Yang, “what about him then? Is he yours too?”

Without waiting for a reply, he groaned: “An, my baby, come to me if you are so horny; I can always give you what you want.”

The corner of Chen An’s mouth twitched: “Shut your mouth, you——”

Suddenly his eyes narrowed and before Chen An could reach for the gun lodged at his waist, a muzzle was pressed to the back of his head, by a man who sprung from the tank.

There was someone in the tank. Ivanov and the rest immediately drew their guns.

“Drop your weapons, if you do not want to see him harmed.” Ding Sheng grabbed the gun from Chen An’s waist and threw it away. With one hand clutching the man’s neck, he pressed the gun squarely on Chen An’s temple.

Right now it was not the time to ask questions like how come Ding Sheng was hiding in the tank, or when he sneaked in. The black gun held by Ding Sheng riveted everyone’s attention.

If Ding Sheng accidently pulled the trigger, Chen An’s brains would be decorating the walls: not a pretty sight to think about.

Although to be sure, as a member of Interpol, the likelihood of Ding Sheng making such a mistake was minimal.

“Hey, relax. Don’t point such a dangerous item at my man.” Ivanov, together with the others, laid his guns on the floor, and slowly put up his hands.

They couldn’t take a risk with Chen An’s life.

“So you heard everything we just said?” Chen An had anticipated that Ding Sheng probably would feel there was something fishy about him after this, but he didn’t expect the man to hear things from his own lips.

As it happened, now Ding Sheng not only knew he was involved in the firearms business, but also that he was the Old Fox, whom Ding Sheng had been trying to track down for three years.

Ding Sheng didn’t speak. Without knowing it, he tightened his hold on Chen An’s neck, which made it more difficult for Chen An to breathe.

“Tell the pilot to turn around and fly back to the airport. No tricks.”

The calm tone could barely mask the storm going on inside him. Ding Sheng never suspected that this polite and cultured man could be lying to his face all this time, while he trusted him wholeheartedly.

Not until Chen An left America and stopped answering his calls. Not until then did he begin to wonder why Chen An went out of his way to investigate about a certain human trafficking organization.

Also, when Chen An was abducted by Ivanov, why did Lu Feng offer to cooperate with Interpol? Later the chip containing weapon technology wasn’t found with Hae, but secretly fell into the hands of another country.

All these signs, all these loose ends led Ding Sheng to the conclusion that Chen An wasn’t as simple as he pretended to be. But before Ding Sheng hid himself in the aircraft, he’d hoped that somehow Chen An was involved in this against his own will, that he had nothing to do with these dirty bastards.

So what did he hear just now? Chen An was actually Chen Chang’an, the Old Fox that he’d vowed to track down and bring to justice.

All this was a big lie from the very beginning, an elaborately devised hoax.

“Easy now, and be careful with your gun!” Ivanov said with his hands in the air, “all right, I will go now and tell the pilot to fly back to the airport. And you, do not hurt my baby, okay?”

“Ding Sheng, let An go. I will be your hostage in his place.” Lu Feng said and started to move.

“Stay where you are!” Ding Sheng growled, and immediately pointed the gun at Lu Feng.

“Ding Sheng…”as Chen An was about to say something, the plane started to shake violently, as if caught in a strong turbulence. Without any precautions Ding Sheng nearly fell to the floor.

At the same time, he grabbed Chen An, who almost fell off the tank. Lu Feng and Chen Yang also seized things nearby to steady themselves.

“Ivanov, what the hell is happening?” Chen Yang shouted in the direction of the cockpit.

“Damn it——”Ivanov stumbled towards them and shouted, “Some damned militants are shooting at us!”

Boom. The plane again trembled violently. This time, Ding Sheng was unable to steady himself; both he and Chen An fell off onto the floor.

“An!”

“Uncle!”

Lu Feng and Chen Yang, who were nearest to Chen An, rushed over immediately. Chen An was a bit dizzy from the impact, and through the wild rocking of the plane, he saw Chen Yang and Lu Feng with their anxious and worried faces, Ivanov cursing in a rage, as well as Ding Sheng shouting into his walkie-talkie.

The shooting seemed to have stopped; yet by now their plane was falling towards the ground at a terrifying speed.

“We are screwed.” A sardonic smile appeared on Ivanov’s face, “God, I never thought I’d go down like this.”

There had been incidents of planes shot down by militants in some turbulent areas of the Middle East, but Ivanov never thought they would be the target one day. The irony was, these militants got their weapons from people like him.

Lu Feng and Chen Yang did not speak. They hugged Chen An close and murmured things like “we’ll always be together” to the man.

This was also a surprising turn of events for Ding Sheng, who sat on the floor and stared at Chen An as if in a trance.

As for Chen An, he wasn’t afraid to die himself. He just felt, Chen Yang, Lu Feng and Ding Sheng, these people didn’t deserve to die like this.

In his previous life, he was killed by the goods he traded; was it going to be the same this time too?

Slowly closing his eyes, Chen An held Chen Yang and Lu Feng’s hands. Then he heard Chen Yang say gently in his ear: “Uncle, I love you.”

As if hit on a certain spot in his heart, Chen An suddenly opened his eyes. In a split second, he didn’t know whether the plane exploded or crashed; a dazzling white light engulfed him.
