more than anything

"Hey Mike, can I tell you something?" El softly spoke, as she moved around to look at him, her chin now resting on his chest.

"You can tell me anything." He said, bringing a hand up to caress her cheek. His thumb grazed along her soft skin, before El brought her hand to rest on his.

Her eyes drifted down to his mouth for a moment, then she leaned up to kiss him, letting her lips linger on his a little longer than usual. It somehow felt different than any other kiss they've shared, like there was something more behind it.

Whatever it was, it left Mike in a daze that he was surprised he even had the strength to knock himself out of.

"Was that what you had to tell me? If so, then I really think you should tell me again."

El softly shook her head, her eyes quickly darting away from his. "No, I'm uh... just a little nervous."

"I still have that effect on you, I see." Mike teased, causing her to bury her face into his chest. He could tell she was laughing though, so whatever she wanted to tell him couldn't be too bad. "El, whatever it is, you know you can tell me."

El couldn't help but look up at him then, her eyes shining with nothing but admiration for him.

"Mike, I love you."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Mike felt as if the wind had been knocked right out of him. Hearing them the first time had made his heart race, but hearing them the second time around? He felt like his heart was going to beat right out of his chest.

It was completely different now that they were being said to him, with those golden eyes of hers locked on his and it had such an effect on him that he couldn't bring himself to say it back yet. He could only stare at her, knowing that his eyes were reflecting the love he saw within hers.

"Is that okay? I mean, I know it might be way too soon for you to feel that way about me or maybe it's too soon for me to be saying that? I've never actually said those words to anyone in this context, so I have no idea how this works, but I love you Mike. I really do."

"You really just asked if it was okay for you to love me? God, how are you even real?" He finally spoke, staring in wonder at this girl who somehow managed to take claim over every single inch of his frantically beating heart. "I love you too, El."

"You do?" She breathed, a small smile crossing her face.

"Of course I do, more than anything actually."

The smile on El's face grew significantly, but Mike didn't get too long to marvel at the sight, because within seconds her mouth was crashing down on his.

Her lips moved so hastily, as she poured the love she felt for him into each and every move she made. Mike did just the same, hoping that she felt as amazing as he did in that moment.

It was so much more intense for the both of them and they only wanted more as the seconds passed. That want being so strong, they couldn't help but wish that they were alone in that house.

"Can I tell you something now?" Mike eventually mumbled against her lips. After stealing one more kiss, she leaned back to put some space between them and nodded for him to go on. "I heard you and your dad talking earlier."

"So you already knew that I loved you? Wow, I ruined the surprise."

"But I also heard you say 'shit' which I will definitely be telling Lucas about." He laughed, causing her to give him a playful shove.

"Okay, out of my room. I will not share my bed with a traitor!" She teased, making a weak attempt to move him over even further.

"Oh, fine." Mike made the move to get up, though he wouldn't dare leave her, especially not now. "I'll go back to my comfy bed."
