"I'm back!" Dallas Lovato stepped off of the elevator in all of her gaudy glory, strutting into her sister's apartment with a wide smile on her face as she snatched her sunglasses off of her nose and squealed.

"Kenzie! Come out here and give mommy a hug!" She stumbled in the Louboutins that she had bought herself as a "sober is sexy" present. Yeah that's right. She was a month sober and feeling completely on top of the world, better than what any artificial high could've ever given her.

"Kenzie! Your mommy is home!" Dallas rolled her eyes when no one responded to her and she was about to march into one of the spare rooms to find her daughter but instead her sister came out with an annoyed look on her face.

"Dallas, it's three am. What are you doing here? Are you high?" Demi questioned, seemingly curling further into herself in the huge sweatshirt that she was wearing. It definitely wasn't hers and last time she checked, Demi didn't have a guy in her life.

Dallas quirked her eyebrow but decided to question it later. If Demi finally got herself a man then good for her. Maybe then she would stay out of her business.

"I came to get my daughter. And no I'm not high silly. I just got released. I've been sober for a month!" Dallas exclaimed as Demi rolled her eyes and shook her head.

It had always been the same thing with Dallas for the past year and Demi was getting sick of it. She stayed in rehab for two months-three months tops-then she would come out seemingly brand new and ready for a change and declaring that things were gonna be different. They never were. She constantly led Kenzie on and made her believe that for once she would be a constant maternal figure in her life but she always ended up going back to rehab because of an accidental overdose or because the urge was just too much. Demi was tired of it and so was Kenzie. As her legal guardian, Demi didn't even want Kenzie to know that Dallas was here because she didn't want to confuse the little girl and have to comfort her when mommy suddenly left again.

"Dallas, come sit down. We need to talk," Demi said, gesturing towards the couch as she took a seat next to her.

Dallas had once been her best friend. She had been the best sister that she could've wished for and they had done everything together. Demi supported her in her dreams and even helped her accomplish them because that was what sisters were supposed to do. But she met the wrong people and got involved in the wrong things and the fame was too much for her. And she ended up pregnant and addicted to drugs that should've killed her a long time ago. Demi knew that somewhere deep in her sister's soul, she wanted to get better for her daughter. But she wasn't strong enough to.

"I haven't seen in my daughter in like two months, Demi. I wanna see her," Dallas pouted, poking out her plump bottom lip as Demi shook her head.

"That's not gonna happen, or at least not right now. Every time you come here claiming to be sober and different you're not. You never are. And it's not just yourself you're hurting. You're hurting Kenzie instead and I don't want her traumatized from her childhood because her mother was constantly off getting high with her boyfriend and could care less about her. I know she's your daughter but...she's my daughter too or at least it's like she's become my daughter too, and I just want to protect her, even if it's from you."
