“You are right; the Red Fox would not betray the group without a good reason. Adding the fact that she’s always regarded you as family, now she’s betrayed the Group and may even hurt you; what do you think she did that for?”

A person wouldn’t do something without a motive, especially given the fact that what she did went against her loyalty and attachment for the past ten years; besides, she might need to pay a dear price for it.

Lu Feng’s eyes lit up, and he cried out, “her daughter?!”

Though regarded as her family, Lu Feng could not be compared with her real family. Chen An didn’t believe the Red Fox would betray them of her own free will; he knew the woman too well.

“Could it be that somebody in the western division found the Red Fox’s daughter, and threatened her with it?” Lu Feng quickly grasped the key point; after all, he was trained by Chen An.

Chen An nodded his agreement, “I can’t think of another reason that would make her break faith with the group.”

The Red Fox had been looking for her daughter for more than ten years. There hadn’t been any results so to speak, yet she never gave up looking. Chen An also helped her in her search after he let her in.

The latest lead was from six or seven years ago: her daughter had been sold in southern Asia. Later Chen An’s men found the person who bought her daughter, only that person too sold the girl when he lost money at the casino.

And nobody knew who he sold the girl to, because he again lost money in Las Vegas, and was stabbed to death by his debtors; a dead man couldn’t talk.

Now come to think about it, the search was made under the charge of the western division. Even at that time six or seven years ago, these people were probably already thinking about defecting and had begun their preparation.

“We can start with the Red Fox. The western division used her child to control her, so let’s find her child instead.”

The Old Fox began making plans in his mind: if they could find the Red Fox’s daughter, there would be no further need for her to take orders from the western division. She then could double cross them. Evidence for their rebellion would be handed to him on a platter.

...

Well, it was easier said than done.

The western division had their European and American connections. The moment he and Lu Feng stepped on the American soil they would know. Even if he and Lu Feng could get to Las Vegas without getting noticed, they couldn’t hide forever.

If he wanted to find any clue, he would have to act, which would certainly attract attention; it would alert the enemy.

“You can’t go to Las Vegas,” concluded Chen An.

“I’m not going to part with you.” Lu Feng thought Chen An wanted to go to Las Vegas by himself; he would die before he let that happen. It would be too dangerous for Chen An. Lu Feng couldn’t risk losing him again.

Compared with putting Chen An in danger, Lu Fen would rather hire an army of mercenaries and take the entire western division down. That way, the Brothers’ Group might suffer a heavy loss or maybe even fall apart; still, it wouldn’t be as bad as losing this man.

“Are you a baby who hasn’t weaned? I won’t breast-feed you even if you follow me.”

Chen An didn’t need to guess what Lu Feng was thinking; he could tell by the fervent look in the young man’s eyes: Lu Feng was worried about his safety. He wouldn’t admit it but he was secretly pleased.

“You’ve got to have it before…” Lu Feng muttered a bit sulkily. He knew Chen An was a man of his words. Before he could finish the sentence, Chen An’s evil glare reached him.

“Talking back now, are we?” Chen An added a few smacks on Lu Feng’s chest to the evil glare, “it’s true I have no milk; so what were you sucking at last night!”

Lu Feng quickly shut up; tough as he was, he’d even learned to play meek by now; putting on his puppy eyes, he peered at Chen An with a harmless look.

Chen An didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so he added a few more punches to Lu Feng’s chest.

Punches aside, Lu Feng was not going to sit by if Chen An went to Las Vegas by himself.

“Stop looking at me with that concerned look. Who taught you everything in the first place? Do I need you to be concerned about me?” Chen An’s self-esteem wouldn’t allow him to be looked down upon by Lu Feng, yet of course he wouldn’t be so rash as to go there alone.

Besides Lu Feng, he needed another person who could ensure his security, as well as help him find the person he was looking for.

Ivanov?

Forget it. The furry bear was busying working with a certain government to blackmail Hae. Although he had some connections in the US, he was still on the wanted list of the Interpol. And Chen An was not sure Ivanov wouldn’t plot against him, given the man’s cunning character.

The Interpol… right, the Interpol. How come he forgot about Ding Sheng?

Ding Sheng would be the best security insurance in the US.

Making up his mind, Chen An immediately made plans. On the one hand, Lu Feng was to carry on his investigation in the Middle East, to draw attention from the western division; on the other, he would find a good excuse to go the US, but he wouldn’t go alone.

“Chen Yang?” on hearing this name Lu Feng frowned, “your current nephew?”

“Um-hmm. He’s a smart kid. I haven’t seen him for some time. He should be on holiday soon. Taking him to the US would make up for my recent neglect somewhat; besides, it would make Ding Sheng less suspicious,” Chen An stated as a matter of fact, and did not notice the sour look on Lu Feng’s face, “can’t hurt to have one more pair of eyes.”

“I’m worried he may cause you trouble.”

Lu Feng was green with envy: he had to part with Chen An and carry on their show in the Middle East, while Chen Yang got to go to the US with Chen An.

“Are you jealous? He’s my nephew. Not everybody got a thing for their old man like you do. ”Chen An threw another punch at him.

Lu Feng didn’t dare to protest under such constant domestic abuse; he was nonetheless worried: wasn’t Changle Chen An’s brother too? How come he fell in love with Chen An?

And as a matter of fact, Chen An wasn’t really Chen Yang’s uncle.

In the past, he used to envy Changle for his special place in Chen An’s heart, but Changle wasn’t someone of this world.

Now this Chen Yang fellow was very much well and alive. Judging from the way Chen An mentioned him these days, he apparently regarded Chen Yang as someone he trusted, as family.

Lu Feng was both jealous and worried: what if this Chen Yang couldn’t protect Chen An and needed protection instead? What’s more, what if Chen Yang had evil designs and hurt Chen An?

But he could only keep these worries to himself; Chen An wouldn’t take them seriously even if he said them.

“An, before you go to the US, I’d like to meet Chen Yang.”

Since he could not change the Old Fox’s mind, he could at least gauge this Chen Yang fellow for him.

“Alright then. You’ll come with me to Shanghai tomorrow.” The Old Fox gladly agreed.
