You sighed, knowing you didn't have much choice in the matter when it comes to this stubborn friend of yours.

"I promise, Tsukasa."

"Yaaaay, Winner! So where are we going to last?"

"We'll check the art room if that's alright with you. It's the only place I can think of right now in terms of places Nene could be. Its a bit odd but I feel like we'll definitely find her there. I can just feel it!"

Tsukasa laughed, intertwining your fingers and swinging your interlocked hands back and forth was the two of you treaded through the dark hallways of Kamome Gakuen. As you walked Tsukasa thought:

She is just like a kid solving a mystery. But she hasn't seen the biggest mystery yet...

The silence would almost be frightening if it weren't for Tsukasa's humming that echoed through the halls in an almost ghostly manner. With a peaceful atmosphere, you allowed yourself to get caught up in your own thoughts.

Now that I think about it... Tsukasa doesn't really get mentioned much in the classroom. He doesn't have a seat and nobody seems to mind him practically hovering around me in class time... I wonder why that is. I don't even think the teachers notice him! It's like he's just wandering ghost who has nothing to do or go!

You glanced at your friend, who seemed carefree as ever. Humming what appeared to be a song in a mess of baubles and verses, you switched your focus back to the ever so slowly approaching staircase B that led to the art room.

"Tsukasa, can I ask you a question?"

"You already did ~"

His giggles led a pout to form on your face, obviously not amused by his reply.

"Whatever you dork. Anyways, how come nobody seems to really mention you in the classroom? You don't get called on, you talk to no one and vice versa - you don't even have seat! It's almost like...

You don't exist!"

Suddenly, the hand holding yours ceased in its movements which lead you to look to your friend in concern only to be met with hollow amber eyes.

Don't tell me it...

Your heart dropped into your stomach, a chill crept up your spine - something about his gaze just set the alarm bells blaring in your head. Those aren't the eyes of your friend, they were devoid of all the warmth and childlike awe that they once held. Your breath hitched in your throat as you tried to stay calm, surely you must be looking at things wrong, surely!

Is it just me or is his grip on your hand suddenly tightening?
Were these hallways always this chokingly narrow?
Was the atmosphere really light or were you too blind to see the darkness that you were trapped in?
His smile-

"Awww, why would you think that?"

His voice broke you out of your trance, though your heart screamed otherwise - pounding incessantly against your chest. Everything seemed fine, so why were you panicking? From the exterior, everything seemed fine but a sensation within you rejected that hope.

It took you a few moments to reply, your mouth dry and voice shakey.

"I.. I just wanted to know is all! J - just a thought."
