Starstruck ~ Prologue

Nini's face flushed with terror, bugs itching at her feet. Gina's jaw dropped wide, her eyes screaming in horror as Ivy paced around the empty air. 

"Guys, you know what this means, right?" Nini spoke, petrified. Gina twitched her arm. They nodded, their faces nearly writing out a story. 

"Our parents... are still alive." Nini blurted out after an awkward air of silence. Ivy's eyes widened as if Nini's words weren't obvious. They stared at each other, as the room slowly burned.

Nini's eyes burned with tiredness. The beeping of the heart rate monitor beat a rhythm, tapping, and tapping away, storing itself in her memory. Nini remembered the day like it was yesterday, fire flashing, pacing around the room. Everyone was in danger. Nini was in shock already that day, knowing her parents, known to have died in a plane crash were actually trapped in time. They were stuck. Because of uncle. Oh, he was so two-faced. When the room lit on fire, the situation got worse. The girls knew that uncle Shade was there. Watching. Creeping. He started the fire. He was the reason Nini found herself waiting, her heart aching, watching Ivy lie on the hospital bed, losing her breath; second by second.

"What do you think is going to happen to her, Nini?" Gina asked hopelessly as she scratched on the plain walls against her fingertips. Nini wasn't sure how to respond. Mom had told her to respect her sisters; through anything. All Nini knew was that she HAD to tell the new protectors. Her friends. Harry, Dennis, and Duke. The world was in danger.
