Warning cringe ahead

Cold and hunger enveloped Taehyung's tired body, his discomfort and anxiety increasing as the hours ticked by, his patience slowly waning as he wiggled restlessly on the lap of the older.

He whined quietly in pain as his awkwardly bent knees began to ache. Unable to ignore his heightening discomfort, Taehyung pressed his lips together before whispering hesitantly, his voice soft as a feather.

"..kookie, I'm-"

'-Sssh' as soon as the words of discomfort left Taehyung's mouth, a quick, callus hand pressed gently onto his pouting lips, the movement cutting off any possible noise made by the omega.

Tahying froze under the touch, the scent of danger looming closer as warm breath fanned softly over his cheek.

He could feel the elders panicked breathing coming in uneven bursts, the sensation causing him to tense. If something scared Jungkook, it scared Taehyung.

He didn't quite understand everything that was happening, but with Taehyung's body held firmly against Jungkook's hard chest by two strong arms, he could not only hear, but feel the alpha's heart racing.

In the dark, cramped cupboard that they had managed to find themselves in, there was little to focus on but the sounds that surrounded the two boys seeking shelter within, and as a result of such, Jungkook relied on just two of his senses.

His ears and nose had lead his every thought and action for the last day and a half, his anxiety climbing higher with every second spent awake in the darkness, awaiting the worst.

They had been on the run for days, with rogues, and god only knows what else on their heels every step of the way.

Jungkook had attempted to remain clearheaded throughout their journey, covering their tracks so no one could trace them, running through muddy rivers to hide their scents, and carrying Taehyung on his back when night fell and the boy was too tired to continue.

He would push himself to the limits, never allowing their trek to halt as he tried his very best to assure the younger that he could protect them both, and that his additional weight was nothing for an Alpha, though after a few days, his distressed muscles screamed otherwise.

The thought of sanctuary fueled his steps, as every breath burned his lungs, but after days of what seemed an endless chase, Jungkook knew his bruised body couldn't take much more.

In a moment of pure desperation, he waited for night to come, and made the decision to take refuge in a place where no wolf would dare follow them.

After what had seemed an eternity of waiting in silence for the coast to clear, Taehyung felt Jungkook relax faintly and took that as a sign of safety.

Taking this moment to mutter quietly between Jungkooks fingers as he gently pried them apart, hoping desperately that the elder would hear his silent plea to leave this cramped, dark place.

"..kookie, 'm tired."

Unfortunately for the omega, his soft voice proved just a little too loud, as the sound of booted feet making contact with the floor echoed into he room at the faint sound of his whispers.

Taehyung could feel the arms around his waist tighten as the elder held his breath. He could practically hear the the clenching of Jungkook's teeth behind him, the intimidating sound causing his entire frame to curl in on itself with fear and shame.

Everything was still for what seemed an eternity until the tense silence was broken by the booming sound of a gunshot hanging heavy in the air, causing all focus to turn away from the boys.
