early life ── amara shea lara flores was born on 25th october 1991. in 1998, she moved from her native town in madrid with her mother and father to live in south shields, in the north east of england, where she met best friend beatrice cunningham. in 2008, she left south shields to study in london at italia conti, a prestigious performing arts school, where she met tom holland, who became a good friend. in 2010, having left school aged 18, amara left the uk to move to new york city to pursue her acting career. it was here where she found her first role as young glinda on the wicked on broadway production in new york.

current life ── since leaving broadway in 2016, amara found her breakthrough role as annie wheeler in the greatest showman in 2017, and has been cast as a new member of netflix's stranger things in early 2019. the series will debut summer of 2019. she lives alone in a new york city condo, which she used to share with ex-boyfriend zac efron, who has since moved back to los angeles. she hopes to continue to expand her roles.
