Prompt: Bede is woken up from a bad nightmare. Hop tries to calm him down (Note: they're already in a relationship at the moment)
Warnings: Mentions of past abuse (yep we're jumping straight into the angst)

Bede suddenly jolted awake, his purple eyes wide and clouded with fear. Another nightmare.. It was his third one this week. It wasn't uncommon for them to occur but as of late they'd gotten worse, he didn't know why. He sat up, staring down at his pale hands which only moments ago were bright red and burning with intense pain, desperately trying to control his breathing. It didn't work. Before he knew it he was hyperventilating, tears threatening to spill.

"Bede?" He heard someone call his name. Hop. "Are you okay? What's going on?" He was sitting up beside him now, reaching over to touch his shoulder.

Bede flinched away. He got out of the bed, stumbling over to the door and into the hallway. As soon as he reached the bathroom he locked the door behind him. He hated crying in front of people. It was pathetic. He was pathetic. He had a great life now: a prestigious position as a Pokemon trainer, loving Pokemon and a new boyfriend yet he still couldn't let go of his shaky past.

"Bede!? Please come out, we can talk about this." Hop's voice called from outside the door.

He didn't reply. The platinum blond male sank to the floor, resting his back against the freezing wall and hugged his knees, sobbing into them. The scenarios in the dream felt, and looked, so real to him. It was like a slideshow for every event leading up to this point in his life. Jumping between foster homes; some being kind whilst others treating him like garbage. Meeting the chairman and receiving his first Pokemon from him, only to be rejected for just trying to impress him. Constantly being embarrassed, beaten, rejected.. Pathetic. Stop crying. Stop being so ungrateful, your life is perfectly fine now. They can't hurt you anymore, they're gone. Why are you doing this to yourself? Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathet-

The door suddenly slammed open, sending a wave of shock through Bede's veins, causing to jump backwards. "I'm fucking fine! L-Leave me alone!" He shouted, the tears just rolling down his face even faster.

Hop stood there with what appeared to be a league card- it was probably used to move the lock. His face was clouded with concern. This was the first time he'd seen Bede cry. The stubborn gym leader never liked to show his feelings. It broke his heart into a million pieces seeing his boyfriend in such a state. Sighing, he walked over and knelt down beside him, reaching a hand over to brush away his fluffy white hair from his face. "What caused you to act like this? You can tell me, I promise I won't laugh or make a joke about it."

Bede hesitantly lifted his head. Hop was just smiling. It wasn't a smug or mocking smile, it was sweet and genuine. Rays of light seemed to emit from those golden eyes, striking Bede's usually cold heart. He didn't want to tell him about the details of his dream, he'd just end up reliving the trauma. "It was just a nightmare, it's not a big deal, stop fussing over me like I'm a child." He muttered, looking away

Hop didn't push it any further. Of course, he was too prideful to admit that something was wrong. Sighing in defeat, he stood up and left the room

Bede closed his eyes. Look at what you've done. He doesn't care about you, he doesn't want to be near you. You're disgusting. Why does he bother to consider you as a partner? He deserves-

"Here we are!" Hop walked back into the bathroom with his phone, a bag of strawberry flavours marshmallows and a blanket. "I don't know if you've seen this movie before, so sorry in advance." It took him a little while to set the phone up. Once he was done, he sat down beside Bede, wrapping the large, fleece blanket around the two of them.

Bede didn't lift his head at first, not wanting any of Hop's pity, until he heard the familiar opening to one of his favourite movies. "Didn't you say that Sonia needed help in the morning?" He reminded, sitting up straight so he could see the screen.

Hop shrugged. "You're more important than getting a good night sleep at the moment." He chuckled softly, leaning over and kissing Bede's cheek.

Bede's cheeks immediately illuminated with a bright red blush. "Hmph, fine." Despite dating for at least 2 months kissing was still new to him. No, scratch that, all affection was new to him; it always left him really flustered and tingly.

They sat in silence for a while, watching the movie in the dark bathroom. Occasionally Hop handed Bede one of the marshmallows but that was the only interaction between them.

Eventually Bede sighed, leaning against Hop's shoulder. He didn't know what he'd do without a person like Hop in his life. It felt weird. When they first crossed paths he hated him and his ambitious personality. Now, nearly 2 years after meeting, they were lovers.

"Thank you.." Bede murmured

Hop looked over at him, smiling. It was rare for Bede to show his gratitude. A sense of pride fluttered in his chest, knowing he'd helped his boyfriend to recover.

"No problem, I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
