Castiel Novak was never really into pop culture, that was until his older brother, Gabriel, showed him records. They were titled from Bon Jovi to Kansas, Asia, Johnny Cash. anything from the 70's to the 2000's. Castiel started to look more into music, he found electronic music such as dub-step, night-core, or even just recent music interesting.

Castiel, holding his books to his chest as if he were holding for dear life, swiftly moved around the hallways. He knew the school like the back of his hand, (a reference he never quite understood) and he could slip through the halls like a dolphin in the ocean. As he made it to music theory, he realized that the seat he normally sits in is taken. He sighed and sat in the back so as to not start trouble. Castiel was a straight A student, he was smart and was quick on his feet he also hated being messed with.

After music theory, he had guitar lessons, he liked playing the guitar, the way the strings would strum against his fingers. The gentle hum of the strings has such a perfect harmony and rhythm. He gently hummed along to "Whipping Post". He could never really sing along, at least not enough to get the full emotion of the song. He then heard another boy singing along with him, Dean Winchester, they've seen each other around but they never really talked. Castiel smiled at the boy and started to play another to see if he recognized it, which he did. He played the chords to "S.O.B" and the both broke into song. The lyrics slid out of his mouth perfectly, as if he had written the song himself. The attitude he gave, perfectly matching the tone he put into the song.

I'm gonna need someone to help me. It's as if he truly meant the words that came out of his mouth, strong and yet graceful. He continued this way by plucking the strings to the melody. The vibration of the sound of other students banging on tables for not only the beat but the drumline as well. Castiel's eyes fell onto Dean's; Cass hadn't known of the beauty they contained. Why had he not noticed before? His eyes gleamed in the light that shone through the windows; a gorgeous emerald green. The music played throughout the class bringing Cass back to the reality it seemed he almost dreaded.I'm going to cover myself with the ashes of you and nobody's gonna give a damn. The boys sang their hearts away. Dean's voice filled the room while the other boy played with his heart attached to the sound of the music.

As the boys came to the end of the song, they were still staring at each other. As Cass looked into the precious green emeralds they heard applause all around the class including the teacher. They both laughed and took a bow, Dean still out of breath. "I'm Dean!" He smiled and put his hand out for Castiel to shake, Cass obliged and shook his hand happily smiling back, "Castiel, it's a pleasure to meet you Dean!" The boys continued to look at each other smiling surprisingly still holding hands, Cass noticed this and let go; flustered he had held on as long as he did. The bell then rang and Castiel put his guitar away. He got the guitar from his father, Chuck, they didn't talk much but they still talked maybe once every 2 months. "Here's my number Cas, I'll.." he looked down slightly after handing him the piece of paper, "I'll see you around!" he chuckled and jogged off to what he assumed was his next class.

Cass had finished all his classes for the day he had his core classes Tuesdays, all the rest were electives or side classes for tutoring. As Castiel unlocked the door to his room, he was then covered in rainbow glitter. As he sighed, he then heard his annoying roommate, who was none other than his older brother, laughing hysterically. " Are you serious . . ?" he was now glaring at his brother who was unable to keep his composure. "C'mon Cassie, it was just a prank calm down!"

Castiel then stormed off to his bedroom, then into his bathroom to shower. He turned on the shower to let the water get hot. He stripped off his glitter covered clothes and hopped into the shower, the hot and steaming water proceeded to wash away any stress of the day. Castiel smiled at the idea of being able to see Dean again, he rinsed off and got into a new pair of boxers, sweat pants and went out to clean up the glitter to find that it was already picked up, and his brother started on dinner. He smiled contently and chuckled a bit, " Gabe are you? Cooking dinner?" Gabe looked at him and smiled, "Yeah! I've been taking cooking classes!"

After the boys ate they both decided to head to bed, Cass didn't sleep much he was clinically diagnosed with anxiety, depression and insomnia. He had yet to refill his medication, and decided to text Dean. The response was immediate.

Cass} Hey Dean it's Castiel.

Dean} Heya Cas! Whatcha up to?

Cass} Nothing really, my brother/roommate decided to dump rainbow glitter all over me..

Dean} Hehe, that sounds hilarious!

Cass} Says you! I had to stay in the shower for way too long just to get it all off! I'm pretty sure there is still glitter in my hair!

Dean} haha! So what are you doing tomorrow?

Cass} I don't have any plans. I don't have many friends so I don't get invited to places often lol.

Cass thought that if he had added the 'lol' it would take some of the seriousness of the text he had sent. The text was true though. He didn't have any friends. The closest thing he had to friends was his siblings but he didn't think that counted as friends.

Dean} Wanna go out with me tomorrow, it would be just as friends of course.

Cass} I'll see you tomorrow, my dorm room is 696

Dean} Goodnight Cass. See you tomorrow.

Cass} Goodnight Dean. See you tomorrow.

As Castiel plugged in his phone, he laid his head on his pillow he couldn't help but feel a small sting in his heart. A date with THE Dean Winchester. But it wasn't a date. He thought to himself. He laid awake for the next several hours, tossing and turning in his bed. He never seemed to get comfortable enough to sleep. Cass eventually passed out from exhaustion, not the best way to fall asleep but he didn't have much of a choice. He has resented going to the pharmacy, he constantly got looked at as if he were a monster for needing all the medication he did. The night passed and it was soon the next morning. He was awakened by a knock on his bedroom door.
