I always liked to swim, the water never scared me, I wouldn't mind jumping in and drawn and feel the world stop while I am under water.
I always liked to swim, the water never scared me, until I was in too deep.

As I walk into North Bay High I let the music embrace me, that music that's only mine as I walk into unknown territory. Once I am at the headmaster's office I go to the front desk where a old lady is typing impatiently on a computer. Next to her is a young boy printing some papers.

- Hi! I am Hayley Claflin and Mrs. Grayson is waiting for me! - I say shyly

- She's at a meeting just wait there. - she says pointing to some chairs without even looking away from the computer.

- Ok.

- New? - I look to my right and there's a girl getting the papers the young boy was printing before, she seems a few centimetres taller than I, the posture of someone that knows her worth, long blonde hair that falls on her bare shoulders, summer dress and all star. And hypnotising honey eyes.

- Yes! Hi ... - that's all I manage to say. I think of my own self. I am pretty, I always knew I was but she's gorgeous. For the first time I feel small. Is my brown wavy hair pretty enough? Is a t shirt and some shorts a good first day at new school outfit? We both wearing all star, that one I didn't get wrong. I can be pretty but my brown eyes can't have the same effect that hers have.

- So Brit, what you doing across the pond? - she says taking me away from my thoughts

- My family just moved, work stuff ... - I stare at my shoes and then back at her - Brit, huh? You're the nickname type?

- I don't know your name yet, so yes. Anyway Brit is cool, would be even cooler if your name was Brittany. - she smiles confidently to me

- Bad luck. Hayley, Hayley Claflin. - I present my self

- Sorry Hayley Claflin but I really like Brit. I'm Margot Harrison. - we shake hands and she takes a few seconds more than usual to leave my hand - You should tryout for the cheerleading squad. I am the captain.

- Oh, well, we don't have that where I come from so I think I'll have to say no. - I say with a shy smile

- You got the looks, the attitude is in there too, you just need to be able to perform a dance routine.

- I see it on tv, how cheerleading is a hard sport. I can't do those crazy acrobatic routines.

- Is not like that here. Come on this is fucking Maine. We dance, shout, cheer, and some do some acrobatics, but nothing huge. We no pros. The tryouts are tomorrow afternoon, can't wait to see you there. - she hands me one of the printed papers - I am sure you have what it takes Brit.

- Miss Claflin! Headmaster Grayson is ready to receive you. - a voice shouts behind me, I cross one more look with Margot and take the paper.

- I'll think about it. - I say ready to turn around to Mrs. Grayson office.

- Don't think too much! - she blinks her eye and leaves with her summer dress and tryout papers. One last look and she shouts - You ready, Brit!

At lunch, I put my headphones on as I eat all by myself. I met some people in my first classes but our schedules had different lunch time so I ended alone. I messaged my best friend Daisy back at home, even knowing how the time zone will affect our conversations. I look at the tryout paper next to me and I realise how this is the best chance I can get of actually surviving the next three years in this place. Margot was right 'I am ready'.

Feels good to be back to writing, hope this time I actually keep on writing.
So far my inspiration is coming mostly from the tv show 'Dare me' (go watch it on Netflix).
