(Khalil)
I saw my apartment building coming up around the corner, and my jog slowed into a walk. I've been going on runs daily since I moved here. I hadn't talked to anyone much, and running and my art were the only things that took up my time.  I got closer to the apartment complex and then I saw her, on her skateboard coming down the road. I had passed her earlier by the beach. I'd seen her and her friends, the super pale girl with dark hair, and a Hispanic looking boy with blue hair, around there often.  She was coming towards me with her bright red curls flying behind her. She was wearing a turtleneck under a baggy tshirt and jeans that were up around her midsection. She started slowing down, then came to full stop about a yard from me. I turned and started up the steps into the. She stepped of her board,     then stepped one end, and picked up the other. Though I couldn't see her, I sensed her climb the steps behind me. She picked up the pace and then was beside me. She cleared her throat and then spoke. " Hello, I'm Phoenix" she extended her hand out to shake. This was the first time I'd heard her speak. She had a faint British accent. "I'm Khalil." I replied. I took her hand and shook it. This was my first time seeing her up close. To put it plainly she was breathtaking. This wasn't the opinion of  some horny teenage boy. It was simply a fact. "So I noticed you moved in a few doors down from me." She said as began walking towards the entrance again. I followed and replied "Yeah."
"Where'd you move from?" She asked. "Georgia." By now we were halfway across the lobby. "Oh ,that's not far." She remarked. "Where'd you move here from?" I asked quickly , wanting to change the subject before she asked something more specific.  Something I couldn't answer. " I moved here from Maryland." I must've looked surprised, because she quickly added, "Before that London." I made a face like " That makes more sense. She laughed a little and smiled back her. Before I knew it we were at the landing of our apartments. " So, I guess I'll see you around"
"Of course." she responded, and I turned in the direction of my place then started walking. "Hey Khalil!" I turned.  "A couple friends and I are meeting at the diner by boardwalk, I was wondering if you'd like to come with?"
