Chapter 13

‘Grandma why isn’t she waking up? Shouldn’t she be awake by now?’ 
 
That’s Benny’s voice.
 
‘Be patient Benny she will wake up when she’s ready. The bullet wasn’t fatal just some sort of magic.’ 
 
Why can’t I open my eyes?
 
‘Is that why she hasn’t phased back?’
 
What does Ethan mean by that?
 
‘Yes it seems the bullet was meant to be shot while she was still in human form to stop her from phasing into her snow leopard but because she got hit while in her snow leopard form she’s stuck like this.’
 
Wait what?!
 
‘Can you reverse it Mrs Weir?’
 
Sarah’s here too?
 
‘I hopefully can. I’ve had a bit of a look into this but I haven’t been able to find anything so far.
 
I groaned and opened my eyes blinking a few times before they settled on Benny who was right beside me. He reached out and ran his hand over my head, which I purred to in return.
 
Wait purred?
 
I jumped up and leapt off the bed and ran to the mirror looking at my refection. Snow Leopard.
 
I thought of my human form but nothing happened. I closed my eyes and thought hard about it but still nothing happened. I opened my eyes in panic and looked at Mrs Weir.
 
‘What’s going on?’ I asked her through my mind link.
 
‘The bullet that you where hit with had some sort of magic in it to stop you from phasing, until I can figure out a way to reverse it you can’t phase back.’
 
I just starred at her, and then looked over to Benny.
 
‘It will be all right Allie, Grandma will find something you won’t be stuck like this, I’ll help her too so between us we should be able to find something fairly quickly.
 
I didn’t know what to say. I walked back over to the bed and jumped up, turning around a few times before lying down and resting my head on my paws.
 
‘This really sucks.’  I grumbled to everyone.
 
They all nodded in agreement.
 
‘Ok I think we should leave Benny and Allie alone, you two can help me look through my books.’ Mrs Weir told Ethan and Sarah.
 
I watched them walk out and shut my door behind them. I looked over at Benny with sad eyes.
 
He sighed and laid down on my bed. I got up and turned around so I could lie next to him. He opened his arms and I laid my head on his shoulder, being careful not to put t much weight on him.
 
‘It will be alright Allie, I promise.’
 
‘What if it’s not? Then what I’ll be stuck in this form forever? That’s not something that’s going to be easy to deal with Benny. I can’t live in a house as a snow leopard forever. People are going to start asking questions.’
 
‘We will find the answer to this.’
 
‘I-‘  ‘No Allie we will.’
 
I didn’t say any more, I moved my head off his shoulder and curled up in a ball next to him moving my tail so it too was wrapped around me. And slowly I drifted back to sleep.
