Finally the trolley came to the end of the tracks. It was it's last stop: The harbor. I felt for my gun and jumped off. The docks were obviously the worst lit place in the city, the lamp lights only half worked. It felt like a set for some kind of horror movie, the street creeped me out. The street was filled with abandoned warehouses and and stores.

The trolley began its long trek back the other way, up it's first steep hill. I sighed and walked forward squeezing through an alley way to the back of the warehouses. The docks themselves were just as dead as the street before. Large container ships were tied up, one by one next to each other, each had their own personal strip of the dock to themselves. I began sneaking toward them.

My back pressed up against a metal container the size of a small room, and I took a peak on the other side. Nothing. Not a soul in sight. Must be really late, I thought, everyone's shifts must be done. I frowned and took a look at the neighboring ships and their docks. As far as I could see, every dock was dark. I shrugged and stepped away from the container. There were about 10 of them stacked in a row, with large spaces in between them. Large enough for me to fit in.

I slipped in between the two compartments and sat down. The air smelled of rust and the wood was dusty, but it beat the cell any day. I carefully took my weapon out of my jeans and placed it on the ground and I laid down. As soon as my head hit the wood, the soft sound of the waves below me put me to sleep.

-------------------------------------------

"What's the point of being down here, man? I mean this place even gives me the willies. There's no way she'd be here!"

My eyes shot open, but I didn't dare move.

"I dunno, the boss wanted us to search everywhere. I'm guessing we got stuck on the bottom."

Two voices rang from outside my shelter. Bright lights flashed across the docks. I shook a bit, and two pairs of boots then came into my vision. Two tall men stood right in front of the entrance to my hideaway. They both had flashlights, and walkie talkies in their hands. Strapped on their belts were a pair of handcuffs and a hand gun. The police were still looking for me.

"What did she steal?" One officer asked.

"Valuable research, I think." The other replied. "Apparently the lab had no idea who she was or how she got in."

They denied me being one of their experiments? Did that mean what they were doing to me was illegal?

"Well we might as well check around here a bit more, and get this over with, yeah Joey?" Then the officer tuned and flashed his light between the cargo container. Right at me.

"That's her!"

My natural or not so natural instincts reacted and I pounced on the officer.

"Hey!" He yelled, his flashlight slipped from his grip and of the dock into the water.

His partner, Joey, tried to pull out his walkie talkie, but I popped up and side kicked it out of his hands. Joey looked at me in surprise and the tried to hit me with a left hook. I deflected it and hit him with a double side kick to his chest, and he went down hard.

"Sorry Joe." I muttered and turned my attention back to the other officer. He was in a defensive stance. Then he lunged trying a side kick, but I ducked and took him in a choke hold, then flipped him. Hitting him with a knife hand in the back. Both officers looked like they weren't moving anytime soon.

I took a deep breath and looked at my right hand, mildly surprised that the gun was still on it. Shaking my head, I tossed the gun from on hand to the other. That experiment made me invincible. What else can I do? But until then, I better get out of here.

I turned and began walking back to the line of warehouses just as something huge crashed right in front of me. Loosing my balance I tumbled over and landed on my butt. I scrambled up as fast as I could and backed away. It was at least 7ft tall robot and was covered in red and purple armor.

"What the?" I asked, and pulled out my gun, pointing it at the mountain of metal. Just then something dropped off its back and moved around to the front. This figure was smaller than the robot in completely purple armor. He had a helmet with a dark visor covering his face.

"Woah!" A male voice said from the from the purple suit, and put his hands in front of him. "I'm not here to arrest you! I just wanna talk, put down the gun!" He almost sounds my age.

I scoffed, "Yeah, okay sure I'm gonna leave my self defenseless against this killing machine." I gestured to the giant robot standing behind him.

"Really? Defenseless? You kinda just took out two well trained police officers without that thing." He said nodding to the unconscious men behind me.

I turned for a second, and then looked back to the pair.

"Fine." I said and pointed my weapon at the ground.

"Thank you." He said and put his hands down, walking a bit closer to me. Immediately I took a hasty step back.

"Hey, we're not any threat! What's your name?"

"Why would I tell you when you're just gonna go tell the police who and where I am?"

"Because if you just give me what you stole, I'll forget I ever saw you."

I paused, then shook my head. "I'm sorry but I can't give you something I don't have."

"What?" He asked, sounding utterly confused.

"I didn't steal anything." I repeated, taking a step to the right, so my back wasn't up against a dead end.

"Then what were you doing in that lab?" The questioner asked.

"That's none of your business, what are you supposed to be a superhero?" I snapped, putting the gun in both of my hands.

"As a matter of fact: yes." The boy chuckled a little bit.

"Well then "Superman" can I go? I don't have anything you want." I said taking another step to the right, so the water was parallel with me.

"No, I want to know what your business was in that lab. And I intend to find out." The superhero took another step closer to me, but this time I didn't back up. He was taller than me, by like three inches.

"Would you like to just tell me now?" He asked. I shook my head. Suddenly he took my right arm and held it too my back. I gasped and elbowed him in the chest and front kicked him away from me. He stumbled but remained on his feet. I pulled up my gun and aim for his left leg. I pulled the trigger. And nothing happened. The bullet simply bounced off his armor and fell to the ground. "Shit." I whispered, and looked back up at him. I gave him one last fleeting glance before I turned and ran.
