CHAPTER 2: THE LUNCHROOM INCIDENT

After 4 periods of mind numbing rambling that the people here called teaching, Delila was ready for a break.  All of the topics being covered, Delila already knew.  She just had to pretend she didn't.

Delila headed in the direction of what she thought was her locker, hoping she wouldn't get lost.  Slowly, the mad rush of people slowed to a trickle as most kids got to their classes.  Walking with new purpose, she strode over to her locker.  It wasn't hard to find anymore.  There was a huddle of people around the locker.

Delila tried to push her way through but ended up stepping on some girls $300 shoes.  "Excuse me bitch." the girl snapped "don't think your skipping the line to see the new girl.  Besides, why would she want to see a loser like you."

Delila smiled pleasantly.  "Oh I know she wants to see a loser like me.  She sees loser me everyday."  People took notice of her statement and stared at her.

The bitch in front of Delila scoffed.  "And why would she see you before me?"  Delila grinned even wider.  But instead of answering, she just walked forward.

"Oh ho.  Don't think you're getting off that easily.  You still haven't answered my question girly."  The girl sneered at her.

Delila sighed a sigh of defeat.  "Oh, if you must know my secret then I'll tell you." she paused, admiring her nails.  "My name is Delila Minther and I am the new girl."  She was looked up from her nails and saw disbelieving faces.  Suddenly, she heard laughter.

"OK, good one." the bitchy girl said "Now go away while you still have a shred of dignity left."

Delila nodded and smiled pleasantly.  "Of course.  May I get to my locker first?"  The girl in front of her bowed mockingly and swept her arm in front of her.  Still smiling, Delila just walked past her.

Delila opened locker 323 and dumped her books in.  Taking out her lock, the closed the locker and held up her ID card.  She looked at the girl who had stopped her before.  "Hello everyone.  My name is Delila Minther.  I hope you realize that the welcome wagon wasn't very welcoming at all."  And with that, she strode off smirking, while everyone else's jaw dropped.

When Delila walked into the cafeteria, there was only one table not completely full and she made a beeline for it.  Sitting down, she took out a book and a granola bar and got comfy.  Almost immediately, she was assaulted by the scent of too much cologne.  Glancing up she saw a group of boys standing expectantly in front of her.

"How may I help you?" she asked while placing her book on the table.

"Darling," one of the boys drawled, "you seem to be at our table.  We would be ever so grateful if you left it to us."

Delila gave him a blank stare.  "Well I am so sorry for intruding, but given that you were not sitting here before me and I don't see any name written on this table, it hardly seems to be yours."  Settling back, she picked up her book only to be interrupted again.

"Darling, if you get up, I'll give you what you want most."  That boy obviously doesn't know the meaning of no.

"And what would that be?" she stared up at him expectantly, resting her chin on the back of her hand while resting her elbow on the table.

"Why, this of course." he said while gesturing to his body, "Isn't that what all girls here want?"  As he spoke, the room gradually grew quieter, staring at Delila and the boy in front of her.

"What is your name?" Delila asked expectantly.

"Daniel Reyes, at your service, milady.  I don't need to ask your name.  You are Delila Minther, new girl."  Daniel looked so pleased to know that he apparently had an advantage.

"Well, Daniel Reyes," Delila said in a cool tone, "I think that you are a cocky bastard if you think that you can win me over by offering your body to me.  That is the exact defenition of a man whore."  The whole room gasped at Delila's bluntness.  Daniel stayed quiet, but he was seething.  "But don't let me stop you from sitting down!  Oh no, I think there is plenty of room here for you and your boys to sit here without me getting up like you have asked me to."

Daniel stood there, mouth hanging open until one guy snapped his fingers under his nose.  Shaking his head, Daniel slammed his hands on the table, making Delila jump slightly.

"Bitch, I will break you and then you will worship me just like everyone else in this school." he sneered, leaning into her personal space.

Delila glared back, not moving back an inch, with a new fire in her eyes.  "I'd like to see you try." she said this quietly and almost not as a threat but Daniel jerked back like he had been slapped.  Everyone was watching the staring contest between the two.

Suddenly, the spell was broken by the shrill bell, and everyone started scrambling around getting their stuff.  Delila gave the group a sickly sweet smile and walked calmly out of the lunchroom, never looking back.

The group just stood there staring until someone said, "Dude, she's hot."

Some boys snickered as Daniel growled.  "Shut up.  She is a bitch and doesn't know her place."  Glaring at the boys standing behind him, he smirked.  "Make her life hell."  And with that he strutted out of the room
