Layla Zevire wished for a normal life. All she ever wanted was to live normally right from the beginning. But that dream soon died when she started her final year in Selpheria Academy (SA)...
As she was approaching her school entrance, she came face-to-face with the reflection of her ocean-blue eyes, and the doors swiftly open. She took a step inside and she immediately heard three girls whispering to each other. About her. Whenever Layla heard them she always felt uneasy. She never deserved any of this but she would not show that she was hurt by their actions.
Showing her emotions would show her weaknesses and she did not want to live through that horror again. No. Not again.
Layla POV
They're at it again. I never deserved the pain I received from other students yet it keeps coming. At times I ask myself why I bother living in this universe, even though I already know the answer. Everything in life has a purpose. A purpose in living. I just haven't found mine yet. Or will I ever? But I don't like dwelling on things for too long, especially the bad memories; I get minor headaches. It's hard to ignore what those girls are saying when I know they are talking about my hair. My hair is unusual silver but I treasure it as if it were my life. It's the only reminder I have left of my mother which is why I never cut it. There was always something special about my mum. I didn't know what but I could sense it somehow. Something supernatural but why should I care right now, she's dead. Murdered by someone or something but the police wouldn't believe me then because I was just a child.
I walk into my new classroom, greeted with unfamiliar people but familiar reactions. You might ask why I don't consider dying my hair. Well here's your answer: I can't. I have tried before but as soon as the dye goes on, it fades away. I sit in a spare seat in the back so I don't draw so much attention but that never works anyway. Their eyes, full of curiosity, would always follow me behind them but I can't blame them. The teacher does the register and starts the lesson. I have been known for always being smart so what he was saying was easy so I just decided to daydream for a while...
Third Person POV
Layla woke up to the sound of her mother calling her for dinner. She was somehow outside sleeping on the grass. It was then that she realized that she was no longer her 17-year-old self anymore. Instead, she was a seven-year-old child. Wasn't she in school before? What had happened? Her mother called out to her again and she paid no more attention to her situation. "Layla the food is getting cold!"
"Coming mum!" Layla ran back to her house and saw her mother standing in front of their front door, giving her a warm smile. "Mum...I missed you..." Layla says with a smile and tears at the corners of her eyes. But suddenly, there was a strange aura surrounding Layla's mum and their house. "It's all your fault." her mother said unexpectantly, giving Layla a confused reaction. "W-what do you mean?" Layla asked, worry laced in her voice. "Why didn't you avenge me?"
"Mum, please don't do this. I tried but they didn't believe me. Please... don't leave me again." Layla started walking towards her mum to embrace her in a hug. But then the look on her mother's face made her stop. Her mother's face was full of hate and anger and she gave Layla a cold, menacing glare. "You disgust me. You're nothing but a disgrace." Tears started to stream down Layla's cheeks, but she made no noise and just had a shocked face. Just then her surroundings started to disintegrate along with her mum. "W-what's happening. Mum don't leave! Wait!"
Just then, Layla ended up sitting on the pavement in front of a house. Her house. And her body felt as if she were in pain and she had multiple bruises on herself. It was raining heavily and it was night. She looked up and saw her father looking down on her. Hatred was in his eyes and he glared at her. "Tch, Damn brat. This is all your fault she's gone," her father shouted. What was going on? "I wish you had never been born..." Layla burst into tears. She got up and ran to the door but her dad slammed it shut. "Please, Dad, I'm sorry! Don't leave me out here!" She screamed but he never came.
