The words "What the f***" escaped Peter's mouth as he stared at his own face on the massive display screen in downtown Queens.
His identity had been officially revealed to the world and Mysterio had painted Peter as the villain. Peter looked down at MJ, who was looking up at him with the same look he had, even though his expression was hidden by his mask.
People around MJ and Peter began throwing things like food and garbage at him and began calling him all sorts of mean names. MJ put her hand up and then Peter webbed MJ's hand, pulled her towards him and then web-swung away.
"How the hell did that happen?" MJ asked.
"I don't know. He must've done it while I was fighting the drones" Peter said.
Once Peter and MJ got somewhere safe that was away from the public eye, Peter lowered himself and MJ onto the ground.
"What are we gonna do now?" MJ asked.
"We are not gonna do anything. It's me that has to do something" Peter said.
"What do you mean?" MJ asked.
"My identity has been revealed to the world. That means that every villain I've fought over the years and any new villains will come after me. But most importantly after you and May and Ned and everyone else I love. In order to prevent that from happening, I have to disappear" Peter said.
"What!? No. I can't let you do that" MJ said, shaking her head.
"MJ, it's the only way you'll be safe. I'm nothing without you in my life. If something happens to you or to anyone else I love, I'll never forgive myself. It'll be my fault" Peter said, holding onto MJ's hands. MJ didn't want her boyfriend to leave. Tears were beginning to fall down her face.
"We just found each other, Peter. I can't let go of that" MJ sobbed.
"You'll have to MJ" Peter sighed sadly. MJ then pulled Peter into a hug.
"I don't want you to go" MJ sobbed. Peter listened to the words MJ just said as he hugged her back. He went back to the moment where he stared at his mentor with glassy eyes and cried as he said "I don't wanna go. I don't wanna go".
Peter slowly stopped hugging MJ and then kissed her on the lips. They touched foreheads shortly after.
"I love you" MJ whispered through her sobs.
"I love you too" Peter whispered back. MJ then backed away from Peter a bit.
"Tell May, Ned and Happy for me" Peter smiled sadly before swinging away. MJ put her hands over her mouth and sobbed.
