Porphyria

Allison and I walk through the front door. We throw down our back packs by the front door. I grab us both a couple of seats. We sit down. Allison goes to her back pack and gets her laptop. She sits back down.

Allison said, "Cannibal, before we get started, I want to apologize about when we were kids."

I said, "It's okay, Allison. We were a bunch of stupid kids."

Allison said, "Can, yeah it is -"

Before she could finish, I kissed her full on the lips. What surprised me is that she kissed me back. It was nice and long. An interruption happened that caused us to break away. It was my sister, Maria, who was bringing us drinks. She coughed rather loudly. She was smiling.

Maria said, "For when y'all are done ramming each other's tongues down your throat."

She turned around and left. Allison and I started giggling like a bunch of school girls.

Maria enters the dining room, still smiling. Joshua notices that shit eating smile.

Joshua asked, "What's happening, sis?"

Maria said, "I just saw Allison and Cannibal kissing."

Joshua spit out his drink. "What!?!?"

Kayla said, "About time, I was beginning to wonder if my son was gay."

Maria looks at her mother like she's finally lost her mind.

Joshua said, "Gotta give props to my little brother, never thought he'd have  it in him."

Maria said, sharply, "Joshua!"

Joshua shrugged, "What? It's the truth, sis." Joshua gets up and puts his dishes up. He kisses mom atop her head. "I'm going to go to my room. I'm gonna get my homework done."

Kayla said, "Okay, see you in the morning, sweetie."

Joshua left. Maria looks at her mom.

Maria said, "Seriously, Mom, you're just gonna let Joshua say that?"

Kayla said, "Say, what?"

Maria sighed and started clearing off the table.

In the living room, Allison and I are finishing up our project. I type the last sentence of our project.

Allison asked, "How are you so smart?"

I shrugged, "I read and watch a lot of documentaries."

Allison smiles at me and I smile at her.  "Hey, wanna see my hangout spot?"

Allison said, "Sure."

I grab her hand; we stop by the kitchen and grab some pizza then we head outside. I climb up the ladder with the pizza. I set the pizza on the top of the shed. I help Allison up. We sit down. I hand some of the pizza to Allison. She takes a huge bite.

After swallowing, she said, "I can see why you like it up here."

I nod my head in agreement. "I come up here to escape. I can see the beauty of Hot Springs from up here. I won't be at school tomorrow."

Allison asked, "Why not?"

I said, "I have a doctor's appointment. I can barely keep any food or liquids down, and I've gone unearthly pale like a vampire."

Allison said, "Keep me posted, okay?"

Allison grabs my phone and puts in her number. I said, "Hey, do you want some more pizza?" Allison nods her head. We each grab a slice. We eat. Then I throw up what I ate.
