The Maybe Prince

It honestly was not supposed to go like this. When Princes Ambrosia decided that venturing out on a quest would be fun she didn't expect to get kidnapped by a sprite. A tower guarded by a dragon, really there were so many scarier creatures in the forest.

She slumped against the old chest in the tower bedroom and sighed. Who knew princesses still got locked up in towers. Ambrosia rolled her eyes as she realized that she probably had to wait for some big strong prince to rescue her now. Could this nightmare be more cliche?

A prince came alright. A week late, but he came and he was far from big and strong. Ambrosia was not even sure how he survived long enough to pass the dragon. It must have been dumb luck.

"I don't understand. Aren't you the almighty prince who is supposed to swoop in and save me from the evil sprite?" Ambrosia said as she glared at the cowering form of the supposed prince.

"I'm here arent I?" Kenny the unwitting hero of the day said from behind the table he was using as a shield.

"Lucky me." The princess said rolling her eyes and tying up her hair in a bun of sorts. "This is why you never send a Prince to do a Princess' Job... "

"Technically I wasn't a Prince until yesterday. So you can't expect me to know how to slay monsters. Noone handed me the guide." Kenny said handing his sword to Amber who took it with practised ease.

"Of course. Because being royal means we have monster-hunting classes between ruling and attending to a diplomatic crisis." She replied sarcastically as she hiked up her puffy yellow dress. "Okay then, let's go."

"Whoa...wait. Okay, just hold on a minute." Kenny said running to put himself between the door and Ambrosia.

"What?" She asked him confused.

"Okay look I know you probably know how to handle a sword and everything. But in case you haven't noticed. I accidentally stumbled onto this tower and I know from personal experience a sword does not protect you from fire. Let the record show my missing eyebrow. It could have been an eye but... " Kenny frantically said trying to get Ambrosia to listen.

"So?"

"So... Did you just say so? Okay. I am going to die. You are going to get us killed." Kenny said on the verge of fainting.

"Look, 'new prince'. I have somewhere to go, so how about you move aside and let me go." Amber said sidestepping him and grabbing the door handle."You are welcome to stay but just in case you didn't know sprites love a little bit of prince in their afternoon tea."

"Yeah okay, I am ready. You will protect me right?"

"Of course. Where would I be without my audience?" She said nonchalantly.

"Okay, good. Good. Very good. "

"I guess some Prince's do need a Princess to save them." She muttered as she opened the door.
