Love. Something everyone wishes to obtain in their lifetime, while not all find their happy ending. Alexander Grayson always believed that his love was out there, his second chance mate. He knew they were out there, especially since the moon goddess gave him signs that his mate was out there. He just needed to find them. Ever since he lost his first mate August Michaels, he's felt this void in his life that was once filled by August. He died in a car accident, blaming himself about it since he was the one who'd been driving that night. They had been coming home from a friend's wedding, the two chatting happily about memories from their own wedding only a year prior.

"Alex, remember our wedding?" August asked, turning his head to look towards his husband from the passenger seat. He watched as the wind from the open window ripped through his hair, gently blowing the brown and blonde locks in the wind as the sun slowly began to set. They were returning home after spending the weekend attending their friends Xavier and Clara's wedding, the two happy to celebrate the nuptials.
"Yes babe. Of course. You absolutely looked fucking amazing. Your white suit and purple tie, it definitely brightened your beautiful blue eyes." Alex spoke, removing a hand from the steering wheel to hold his husband's hand, his eyes remaining on the road, and pulling his hand up to his mouth to press a gentle kiss against it.
"And you looked handsome in your black tux. I swear all of our friends and family were jealous." He laughed lightly, knowing his husband had been the eye of everyone around them as they grew up. Alex was an alpha, and soon to be the next head of their pack while August was just an ordinary beta. It was blatantly obvious that they were mates, eventually being confirmed shortly after they turned 18. They took one look at the other and their wolves both screamed out their confirmations at the same time, causing huge grins to spread across their faces. Both of them where now in their twenties with their whole lives ahead of them.
"Yeah, but that didn't matter. Just you and I did. Goddess knows what I would do without you." Alex spoke, taking his eyes off the road for just a moment to steal a look at his husband. He saw the way the other looked at him, love present in his eyes and smile, a look he just couldn't help return.
"I love you~" August spoke before being cut off just as a semi plowed into them. It had crossed lanes after the driver had had a seizure at the wheel, veering into the oncoming lane, hitting right into the car that Alex and August were in.

As the memories swirled in Alex's head, he couldn't help but let several tears fall freely down his face as he remembered the last words he heard from him. August had been killed on impact, and it was a complete fucking miracle that Alex survived, though not without a reminder of that fateful day. He'd been paralyzed from the waist down since, his spine at the base of his pelvis had been damaged so severely that even with his supernatural healing, he was unable to recover quicker than usual. The pack doctors and elders believed that it also had to do with him losing August. A mate was your other half, someone you'd be able to count on and draw strength from. Now that he was gone, he was practically missing his other half, leaving the elders and pack doctors to believe that it would take longer for him to heal.

He adjusted quickly and during his time of recovery, his father Leon returned from retirement to help his son by becoming temporary Alpha again until he recovered. Doctors estimated it would be almost a three years to heal completely before he'd be able to walk and shift again, knowing it would be faster if he had a mate. For now he sat behind his giant mahogany desk, filling out paperwork that his father had given him to fill out, still helping out with Alpha duties to keep his mind off it all. They had already been nine months into this arrangement and Alex didn't mind one bit, knowing it gave him a chance to also try and find his mate. He watched the time pass slowly, waiting for the next time his mother and mother-in-law, Augusts' mother Georgia and his mother Claire, would walk in to come in and sit with him for an hour or so until dinner was done. The two had done it ever since that fateful day, seeing the alpha in the hospital looking so broken and weak. It was unusual to see him in that state, bringing pain to both female betas as they watched over him as he slept. Despite being in mourning over her son, she stayed and supported Alex through this trying time, knowing it's what her own son would've wanted her to do.

As he sat there knowing that the memories would hurt him, he bit back a whimper as his wolf Alastair howled out in pain at the loss of his mate. He winced before closing his eyes to reach into his mind space and talk to him, finding the wolf in his human form and crying on a bed that resides in the home of his mind. He walked over, sitting on the bed next to his mate. Despite being physically paralyzed, in his mind he was still able to walk.
"Al, I know you're in pain buddy. I am too. But remember we have another mate." He tried to comfort the wolf, knowing it hadn't worked very well each time he mentioned it.
"I know. But I don't want another mate. I wanted August and Michael and now they're gone." He cried out, falling apart as he cried for their missing mates.
"I know. I did too." He cried softly, resting his hand on the others covered thigh, trying to comfort him. "Just hold on. Our second chance mate is out there. I just know it." He said, earning the wolf's attention, seeing him nod in agreement.

He then pulled himself from his mind, opening his eyes just in time to see Claire and Georgia enter the room. Claire was 5'8 with medium length brown hair and chocolate brown eyes to match. Georgia on the other hand was 5'9 and had long pale blond hair with blue eyes. The two women were complete opposites and despite all that, they were best friends ever since high school. The two were almost as close to each other as they were with their husbands. They were always accepting of the fact that their sons were mates, knowing that it was bound to happen since they were extremely  close as well. When he finally acknowledged they're presences, he noticed that the two seemed a bit off as they walked over to where he sat.
"Mom. Georgia. What's wrong?" He asked worriedly, seeing tears fall down their faces.
"We got a call....from one of the recipients of Augusts' organs." Georgia started as a shaky smile crept onto her face as she spoke.
"Which one? Was something wrong?" He asked, knowing that August had been an organ donor and wanted to help others in his passing. His heart, lungs, kidneys and many other organs were spread across the states to help various recipients that were on the transplant list who matched him.
"We don't know who, but they're fine. They wanted to meet us." Claire spoke, knowing that she and Georgia wanted to meet the person, but knew it was also up to her son. After a moment of thinking, and discussing it briefly with Alastair, he agreed as he felt like he needed to do this.
"Fine. They can come." He replied, seeing their eyes light up, Georgia's more so than Claire's, and watched as Georgia left briefly to call the person back.
"You sure love? You don't even need to do this." Claire asked after her friend left the room, her worried gaze trained on her son.
"I'm sure mom. Besides, I feel like August would've wanted me to do this." He answered, feeling as if his whole life was about to be shaken up once more. Whether it was good or bad, he'd see soon for himself.
