I was running across the rooftops of the large buildings of my city. Searching for any call of help to send me down to the ground. The edge of the building came up, and I jumped across to the next one. I grabbed a rain gutter, swinging me around a corner. Running, I love it. It means freedom. From problems that you can't solve. I run because I can run from my problems at my father's apartment. I can run to the problems I can solve. Other people's problems. I jumped off the building, a sheer drop below me. I reach up to the nearest building, my hand nowhere near grabbing the edge. Then a blue rope shot out from my hand and latched onto the edge of the building and as the rope shrunk I flew up.
That is my power. Not ropes shooting out of my hands, but energy. My power is from my emotions. Emotions have energy, and I use that to use my power. Though some side effects are being emotionless and tired at times.
I pull myself up and there in front of me are the power regulators or their common name PR's. The power regulators patrol the tops of buildings for vigilantes like me, using their powers underneath the government's control for good. I quickly duck down behind an AC unit. They were all wearing black bulletproof suits and had large black guns. The government is trying to get rid of power users who aren't serving them. And they are neglecting the true crimes going on in the streets. Murderers could run around freely, but me, just being me, is a crime to them.
I slowly peered around the corner of the AC unit and they were standing in a circle talking. I didn't really care about what they were talking about, they were in the way of my mission.
Maybe I could run fast enough to outrun them. No... they have guns.
Maybe catch them by surprise and- no that won't work either.
I'm going to have to walk in the streets instead of running on the rooftops. I turn around and climb over the edge and drop down to the ground. I used a short energy burst from my hands to slow the fall. I take off my backpack and put my white mask and hoodie in it and walked out from the alley-way.
I calmly walked the streets, my large shirt that was way too big for me hung off my shoulder and ruffled in the wind. My father never thought to get me clothes that fit, just clothes that were cheap. I walked for about 20 minutes when-
"Help!" Someone screamed. I quickly grab my mask and hoodie put them on and rush to the alley-way where the scream came from.
A small elderly lady was pushed to the ground as two thugs laughed holding a purple purse that must belong to the lady.
"Help," one of them mocked. The other snickered. I ran up to the one holding the purse, and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around, and right as he faced me I punched him in the face. He staggered and fell to the ground, dropping the purse.
"Hey!" The other thug yelled. He swung at me but I leaned back dodging his attack. He swung again using his other fist, and I caught it. I sent a shockwave up his arm and he yelled and pulled his arm back falling on top of the other dude. I held up my fist, orange flames danced around it.
"I suggest you run," I said. They quickly got up and ran from the alley-way. I waved my hand, blowing out the fire. I looked towards the elderly woman and held out my hand.
"I hope they didn't cause you too much trouble," I kindly said. She looked at my hand cautiously then slowly grabbed it. I helped her up and gave her purse to her. She had short white curly hair and nice gold earrings. Her hands were old yet nicely manicured. She looked so familiar but I thought nothing of it.
"Have a nice evening ma'am," I said, waved and turned around.
"Wait," she said. I turned back around to face her. "At least let me repay you," she said. She pulled out a nice neat roll of cash from her purse.
