Mohali, Haryana
It was almost midnight.
The whole village was facing the terror of storm. Loud thundering and wild rain kept everyone awake. Amidst all this, a woman was fighting for two lives - Hers and the unborn child.
A man in his early forties was waiting anxiously outside the room but as soon as he heard the cries of the baby, his nerves relaxed.
Dayi maa (lady doctor) came out with the little life wrapped in a white cloth, smiling.
"Chaudhary sahab badhayi ho devi aayi hai" (Congratulations Mr.Chaudhary. A goddess is born.)
The man's smile faltered and his face contorted into anger then suddenly changed into a painful expression. He harshly took the baby into his arms, who started crying at the loss of warmth, and tightened his grip around the baby's delicate body.
"Hey bhagwaan! Hume mara hua baccha kyu diya?" (Oh god! Why did you give us a dead baby?)

Delhi
The weather in Delhi was no better. The tension was no better.
A man paced around the hospital corridors, praying for the life of his wife and the one who was coming.
After few critical moments, nurse came out with a happy face and a little baby in her arms, carefully tucked in a soft cloth.
"Congratulations Mr.Harvinder. It's a baby girl."
The man's smile faltered and tears started forming in his eyes. He hesitantly took the baby in his arms and baby instantly leaned in for the warmth. The man looked at the nurse with a full blown smile and said in a cracked voice.
"Oh my god! We are blessed with a goddess".
