Chapter seven | What's wrong with me

Start from the beginning

The two girls began to walk in silence until they found a small stream and decided to sit and rest their feet.

"do you wanna talk about it?" Valerie turned towards the redhead upon hearing her question

"I guess I should tell someone," Valerie answered as she began to tell the girl everything that happened on the field. She told her about the darkness and the sickly feeling and about the weird girl that Valerie didn't know "you think I'm crazy don't you?" she asked after finishing her story seeing the girl just stare at her strangely

"No, of course not. I could never think you were crazy," she answered trying to reassure the girl

"so you believe me?"

"always will Bonnie," Valerie smiled at the nickname and pulled the girl in for a hug

"thank you," the two girl pulled away from each other their eyes lingering on teacher other for a second "um...I think I should...I think I should go now," Valerie stuttered standing up to dust off the pants that Max hand let her borrow that morning.

"yeah we should," at that the two girls made their way back to Max's bedroom window where Valerie helped Max climbing back in before hoping on her bike home.

The ride home all Valerie could think of was the nervous feeling she always got when she looked at Max I don't like her do I she thought to herself. She always knew that she liked girls she never felt any feeling towards guys not like the other girls in her old school It was something that made her different. It terrified her that if she wasn't careful in Hawkins then the same thing that happened in Chicago would happen here.

When she got home her aunt and uncle were still at work so she crept in trying to be quiet as she walked towards her room, but Lucas's room door slammed open and he rushed over to her pulling her into a hug

"Valerie where the hell have you been?" He asked pulling her back

"I don't want to talk about it."

"come on you've been gone for hours,"

"I know but as long as you're keeping secretes I can keep mine,"

"what are you talking about?"

"oh don't act all dumb I know you and all your nerdy friends have been keeping secrete from me and until you fess up I'm not telling you a damn thing because we're family and family doesn't keep secrete from each other no matter how big," catching her breath Valerie stared at Lucas as his mouth hung open "so until so can be honest with me you can gladly fuck off,"

"look Valerie I'm sorry I want to tell you everything but I can't,"

"Lucas I don't want to hear it," she walked over to her room and slammed the door right in his face.

The next day she asked her aunt if I was okay if she could stay home from school saying she wasn't feeling good. Her aunt agreed and she spent the whole day by herself. She was extremely exhausted seeing as she didn't sleep at all the night before, so when she laid down for a quick nap she fell into deep sleep.

Opening her eyes she found herself surrounded by darkness "HELLO," she called out but she received no answer

"they can't hear you," the same familiar voice called to her
