I had just pulled into the parking lot of my job and I fixed my name tag and grabbed my keys out of the cup holder and my coat and walked up to the door and unlocked it and turned the Closed sign to the Opened sign
"Another day I guess"
I signed the paper with my name "Janet Jackson" and sweeped the floor and as always people flooded in and I was the only one working at that time but Tonya came in early to set up the schedule. I went to my first table of the day
"Hi! My name is Janet, I'll be you server for today...can I start you off with your drinks?"
"Yes ma'am, I would like to have water and....can I also get a cup of coffee?"
"Of course! I'll be back with your drinks"
I walked to the back to get his drinks and Tonya called my name
"One second!"
It was so many people out there and with me and Tonya the only people working the 9:30 shift and Breakfast food being served at 10, it gets really stressful. I walked to the office and sat down
"Your Cleavage Janet"
I looked down and gasped
"Oh my"
I fixed my button
"Okay, I need you to come in at 7 tomorrow"
"I can't..."
"And why not?"
"Because..."
"Because?"
"I just can't be here that early"
I couldn't tell her that I had to go pay my light bill at 7
"You either come in or lose your pay cut"
"I can't come in at 7....can we try 7:30?"
"7:30 SHARP"
"Thank youuuu"
I got up and straightened my work attire and grabbed that cup of coffee and water and walked to the table and while trying to get to the table I bumped into a man who wore a blank bandana and gold framed glasses with Clear lenses
"Ugh! Watch where your going!"
"You bumped into me??"
I looked up at him while I was picking up the glass and the mug. He walked past with his friends and sat at a table. I went to the man who was reading his newspaper.
"I'm so sorry sir...I'm going to have to get you a new cup of coffee...and water...."
"Oh no take your time. I'm in no hurry"
I ran back to the kitchen and the cook came in and greeted me and I grabbed the water and fresh coffee and served the man and Tanisha tapped me
"They want you"
She pointed at the group of man
"Why? What they want with me?"
"Girl! Go over there!"
I looked at her with a snotty look and walked over to the table
"Hi, My name is Janet-"
"Yeah, Yeah. Lemme get some orange juice". I looked at his friend and squinted
"Nah you gotta be nice. May I get some tea please?"
They all bust out laughing. I really wasn't amused
"I don't get payed enough for this" I picked up my pad and pin and put it back in my apron and walked away
"Ay! Come back"
They thought they were so funny. I got behind the counter and chewed my gum and wrote poets down in my notebook and let people pay for their meals. Then he came up
"Ay how much was this raggedy shit"
"If it was so raggedy you shouldn't have came" I mumbled
"You got a slick mouth"
"Your total is $15.45"
"Cheap place"
He paid and I gave him his change back
"Smile, it's a beautiful day"
I rolled my eyes
"Goodbye"
He scoffed and left and I worked my shift out and it was time for me to leave. I grabbed my coat and clocked out and my heels clicked as I walked out to my car. I was about to get in but I saw a note on my windshield
"What?! I have a parking ticket?!"
I opened it up and I read it

He really thought that was funny. I took the note and put it in my glove department and drove to my apartment. I was tired and my feet were killing me so as soon as I got home I kicked my shoes off and flopped on the couch and dozed off
