" You never think about Dolly. Never once, never"

Her mother's screams coming across the wall reaches her tea party she's having on the kitchen floor. One, two, three. Dolly counts numbers. Silas said if she counted ten seconds, he would appear. And then, he will take her away from all the noises, broken vases, mama's crying agonisingly.

 "Dolly"

 There he is.

She didn't answer him back. He was late after all. She counted until twenty, and then twenty one, twenty two.

" Dolly, look at me please"

Dolly finally looked at him. Her godfather, Silas Ford crouching down to her level tried his best to meet her eyes. Dolly blushed a little. She always had a little crush on Silas. At a mere age of eight, Dolly thought of Silas as her friend and her confidant. She could always rely on Silas, especially when MaMa and PaPa were screaming and fighting at each other. She could always run to him since Silas just lived next door. But not today. Not when she just saw a red haired woman visited Silas again. She saw her this morning. They were kissing in the garden.

" Why are you late?"

Dolly sounded like a jealous friend whose best friend is stolen by another. It is how she felt this morning. Her best friend was hanging out with a woman when there was a fight broken out in her home. She hid her face in her little hands. Tears flowing.

" You are gonna abandon me like PaPa"

Her father is a famous man, a front man people say. She didn't know what they meant by a front man. He was always on tour. MaMa didn't like it. Sometimes she threw tantrums. Later on, they kissed and made up. They were never married. MaMa said she was not good enough for her father. Two people in love are never enough, Dolly. You have to be pretty or talented enough to become a wife of  a Lawrence. But we are so vain, Dolly. We are not special.

"Oh, Dolly. Don't cry. I will never abandon you, you know that. Who put that ideas in your head?"

Silas hugged her. He was warm. Like always.

" Are you going with Papa?"

Silas was quiet for a moment. Silas was what they call a manager. He was always with Papa. When he was not with Papa, he usually hanged out with her.

" After your tea party, could I go with your Papa"

Dolly looked up to Silas face. He squeezed her nose gently.

'" Can I see your smile, little doll?"

Dolly smiled.

"Kisses please"

Silas kissed her on the cheeks, his moustache makes the kisses ticklish. Dolly giggled.

"There, there. Doll face. Your smiles are my favourite"

Little did she knew. It was probably the longest time they laughed together. Fate is a funny thing. Unfortunate events awaits, creeping into their lives.
