As I opened my eyes, I was enveloped in darkness. The damp cave was desolate, with only faint beams of light seeping through the cracks in the rock. I lay there, taking in every subtle detail of the cavern, until I heard a voice calling out to me. It was so distant that I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but when I sat up, a small figure stood in the archway. I brushed the unkempt hair from my face, trying to get a better look at the figure, but could only make out a small silhouette in the distance. Nausea began to set in, and another voice seemed to be tugging at my ears. I quickly scanned my surroundings, my hands becoming clammy and shaky. Tremors ran all over my body as I sat in the dark, the voices in my head growing louder and more corrupt. Suddenly, everything stopped, and I woke up in my bed, drenched in sweat and unable to move. My daughter stood crying over me, and I longed to reach out and comfort her. But I soon realized the truth... I was paralyzed.
