Hi. My name is Oliver. I don't really feel like I'm the coolest of people, but I can at least feel like I'm worth something. A lot of people either like me or hate me. However, today has been the worst day of my life. My mother passed away finally, after my father two years ago. And now here I sit, in a bar drinking my sorrows away with shots of Jack Daniel's.
I sit back, taking another small sip of my shot, when I hear some distant chatter from across the room. I look over to see two girls, one who was very tall and the other being about average height. The second girl had black short hair and army based clothes, and sat very sadly with her friend. A moment later, the friend must have told her she had to go, and left the poor sad one all alone. I decided to take a chance to try and talk to her. I walked over to her table, with a friendly smile.
"Hi! Is this seat taken?" I patted on the back of her friend's seat. She shook her head, and I took a seat next to her. Over time, after multiple minutes of silence, we began to talk about things we like. About an hour later, we were laughing our heads off at corny jokes. She started to calm down, and as she wiped away a tear, she looked up at me.
"God damn, been a while since I've laughed that hard."
"Hehe, same here." I realized that I never told her my name. "Oh gosh, how stupid of me! My name's Oliver. How about you?"
She gave me a warm smile, saying,"Rosita. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ollie." She laid her hand on my thigh as a kind gesture, making my cheeks flush brightly. I tried to play it cool, and chuckled a little.
"H-hey, you seem really fun. Wanna maybe, hang out again sometime?"
Her eyes lit up.
"Hell yeah! This was really fun, so for sure. Here."
She began writing something down on a spare napkin, then turned and handed it to me. I took a look at it and stared at it wide eyed. It was her phone number.
"When you text me, just make sure you tell me who you are. Otherwise I'll probably block you."
I laughed a little, my cheeks warming.
"Y-yeah! I'll make sure to do that." I took one last look at her before she began to get ready. Wait a minute... Was that.. Blush? She didn't seem to have makeup on. So could she have been... No, let's not overthink things.
I bid her farewell, and we part ways. As soon as I get home, I jump up and down in utter joy and excitement.
"I HAVE A DATE!"
