The Devastation

Chapter 1

It was a hot summer in Arizona, and Nathan Reed was outside playing football with kids in his neighborhood. School was out and they were finally free. They decided to take a trip to the local pool. They started their trek and continued on. They were walking through the streets of Tuscon Arizona, like usual when upahead they saw a group of people chatting nervously. They walked closer to the huddle and saw they were near the TV's in the front of  the local news station. The headline read "North Korea threatens to nuke america" Nathan saw the headline and looked at the other kids behind. "We shouldn't be worried right? They have threatened to do this for a while now." . Thinking nothing of it, they continued on to the pool. They waited in the long line for the pool and they finally got in. The pool was filled front to back with kids and adults trying to escape the hot sun. Nathan and the rest of the kids hopped in the releaving waters of the pool. Everyone was happy. There was a loud shuffling sound on the other side of the pool. They looked back to see a group of people Huddle's around again looking at the phone of an older lady. The headline read "Nukes launched, get to cover!" The team of kids quickly panicked and started running in every direction. The headline was repeating over and over in Nathan's head like a broken record. He watched and saw everyone screaming and panicking for their lives. Nathan quickly ran faster than he has ever trying to get home. He was pushing through crowds of people, jumping over debree that the stampedes left behind. Everywhere he looked there was nothing but trash littered everywhere and people screaming. He spotted an elderly woman in the middle of a crowd he quickly rushed over to see if he could help but before he made it over to her he heard an ear ringing sound. He turned around quickly to see a big mushroomed shaped cloud that just kept getting bigger and bigger. The cloud got closer and louder as it got in eye sight Nathan began to run each step speeding up as he ran, whenever looked backed he just ran and ran, but there was no escaping the black mass that was coming, it got closer and closer, ingulfing everything in it's path untill it eventually reached Nathan Reed finally ran to a stop relizing there was no escape he looked into the abyss and he was sumberged into the black cloud and he collapsed underneath the pressure and loss of breath from the cloud.
