Chapter Four

"Well we won't know till we look!" Mondo exclaims

"Whatever he meant, it seems we'll have to search the school one more time." Kyoko says

"Okay, then let's split up and start investigating! When you're done, everyone meet back up at the dining hall and we'll share what we found!" Ishimaru orders

"You're basically a one-trick pony, you know that?" Byakuya tells him

"More like a staple food source! Now let's get moving!" Ishimaru says

"Wait! Something's been bothering me for a while now..." Junko speaks up.

"What is it?" Aoi asks her

"Well... I feel like we're missing someone..." Junko mentions as she looks around the room.

"Missing...?" Celeste wonders as she looks around

"It's F/N..." Chihiro mutters quietly

"Huh?" Sakura asks her

"F/N is the only one not here. He's been missing since last night actually." Chihiro points out to everyone

"Now that you mention it, it is way quieter today. And less shitty too." Mondo says

"That guy... is definitely not mentally stable. Is it really a good idea to leave him unattended?" Celeste asks everyone

"Well... We could always have someone keep an eye on him. That way he won't have a chance for more nefarious plots." Ishimaru suggests

"I think I'd be the best candidate." Sakura offers. "I have no intention to harm anyone... but perhaps my presence will suffice." She adds.

"Um, well, actually..." Chihiro murmurs as she tries to catch Sakura's attention

"Hm?" Sakura hums curiously as she looks over to her.

"Ah, i-it's nothing..." Chihiro says.

"Well, we can decide on that later. Let's just hurry up and investigate this place some more." Junko tells everyone

Seeing her words as their signal, everyone scattered and left the gym.

"I haven't found anything new on the first floor it seems, but now the gate that was blocking the second floor is open. Maybe, just maybe, there's a way out up there..." Makoto says to himself before ascending the stairwell. However, someone was already up there. Someone who's presence unsettles makoto greatly...

"Looks like you've finally found this place, Makoto." F/N says to him from the wall beside the stairwell that he's leaning against.

"Y-Yeah..." Makoto murmurs as he looks over to F/N.

"I wonder... are there any clues as to who our captor is..." F/N mentions

"That's... what I'm hoping for..." Makoto tells him

"Do you truly believe we'll be able to get out of here though? And... Try being realistic about it." F/N requests as he pushes himself off the wall with the heel of his foot before fully turning towards Makoto.

"I..." Makoto mutters as he looks down for a moment to think carefully. "There's gotta be a way out. I just know it!" He claims as he looks up at F/N, who tilts his head with a curious look.

"Is that so? You're just banking all your hopes and expectations on just that? You're a little too optimistic, y'know that?" F/N points out as he puts a hand on Makoto's shoulder.

"A-Am I...?" Makoto asks with a nervous expression.

"You are. It's almost to a ridiculous extent." F/N tells him, with a smile on his face. "But... I'd say that's your best and most defining trait, Makoto. Truly, it is..." He adds in an almost inaudible whisper.
