5) The Plot

At that Luke pushes me against the wall and presses himself into me. His face is a few inches from mine "What did you say Adams?"

I immedeatly push him hard and he falls back a little and I'm able to get out of his grip "you can't scare me into taking it back! See this is your problem! Someone says or does something you don't like and you try to bully them into apologizing, well guess what Luke? It's not working for me!".

He stares at me for a while before responding "you know that I can get anything and anyone I want" he defends. I snort "obviously not Nicole". he glares murdurously at me at that "I can get her back easily".

"Oh yeah? And how is that"

"I can make her jealous"

"Yeah good luck with that"

"No, wait listen to me" he says and I can see the gears in his brain working out an idea. It was a sight I had never seen of Luke Evans.

"I pick a girl, not just any girl, someone who Nicole absolutely hates. It will be so easy, but who does Nicole absolutely hate?"

His eyes suddenly light up and he looks at me with a weird look on his face "you!".

I choke on air "What?" I ask, wondering if I heard him right.

"It would be so simple" he stated walking around with a look of brilliance on his face "I could pretend to date you and she would get so jealous she would want me so much more then Zack and they would break up!"

"No way" I say dropping the idea there and walking away. He stops me by grabbing my arm and continuing "not only would Nicole be jealous, Zack would be too. He seemed to like you a lot the first day and when they break up he would go after you and we would both have the people we want!"

The thought of Zack actually liking me makes me blush and become more interested in what Luke has to say.

I am actually interested in his proposition "go on" I say and his smile grows bigger. "We would keep this a secret between us and make everyone think we are dating. It will be a little hard trying to act like I'm interested in you but hopefully it won't have to go on for long".

I think it over and say "and it would be hard for me to act like I like a douche like you but I think this plan could actually work".

He smiles even bigger and sticks out his hand "do we have a deal?". I nod and shake his hand and his smile stays as he states "we start at lunch" and with that, he walks back into the building as I collect my thoughts.
Oh lord, what have I gotten myself into?

My first 3 classes actually go by quickily and I am soon walking to lunch with Belle and Danny. They are bickering about what starburst flavor was better.

"How can you even like pink the most when they have the red ones too?" Belle asks in disgust.

"The better question is what kind of monster likes the reds when there is the lovely, juicy pinks".

I laugh at their argument as we walk into the cafeteria. We start walking to our table when I hear a voice I know all too well.

"Claire!" Luke shouts motioning for me to sit over with him.

At his shout the cafeteria quiets a tremendous amount and 100 pairs of eyes are on me. They were probably wondering what Luke was doing calling my name.

I awkwardly walk over and am relieved when I hear 2 pairs of shoes behind me. I knew Belle and Danny would never let me go into the shark pit alone.

I finally make it over and see who is sitting there. Luke, Mike, Brandon, Nicole, and Zack. Nicole is shooting me a murderous look and Zack's eyebrows are furrowed in a confused expression.

"Hey babe" Luke says and I am taken aback by the nickname but I quickily recover "Hi" I respond kind of breathy. He pats the seat between him and Brandon. I reluctantly sit down as Belle and Danny sit awkwardly across from me.

"Babe?" Belle, Danny. Brandon, Nicole, and Zack asks simultaniously with different expressions. Belle is looking at me like I've lost my mind, Danny is trying hard not to laugh at the nickname. He knew that I hated when couples gave each other those kinds of nicknames. Brandon is looking at me like I am a stranger. Nicole is looking at me like she dared me to admit that we were dating and Zack looked plain shocked.

"Yeah, I have news for you guys" Luke announces and puts and arm over my shoulder and it takes all of my strength to lean into him rather than away

"Claire and I are dating".

"WHAT" this comes from everyone with the same expressions on their faces. I force a smile and say "yep".

"When did this happen" Belle, Nicole, and Zack ask while Danny bursts out laughing, Brandon studies my face, and Mike shoves a chicken leg into his mouth.

"This morning" I state only half lying.

"Yep, I saw Claire and noticed how" Luke swallows at this "amazing she is and asked her to be my girlfriend. Of course she immedeatly shouted yes in happiness".

"I'm not sure I was that enthusiastic" I state, griiting my teeth. Luke snorts "sure, you wern't enthusiastic when you threw yourself in my arms" at that I elbow him in the stomach but he only utters an "ow, sleeping beauty that hurt".

Danny laughs loudly again and states sarcastically "oh yeah, they are a match made in heaven alright". "or hell" Belle and Nicole mutter at the same time.

Luke changes the subject but keeps his arm around my shoulder "so Zack, you excited for the football game this Friday?" he grits his teeth as he says Zack's name but Zack doesn't notice.

"Yeah totally, coach said I may even get some action as quaterback on the field" I cringe at what I know is going to happen next.

Luke drops his fork and drops his arm from my shoulder "What" he asks in a low voice. "Yeah, coach said I was getting a lot better and said he may put me in" Zack says unsurely. "Well not as quaterback" Luke snaps "that's my permanent position" he is now
clenching his hands into balls of fists.

I quickily cover his fists with my hands, not for Luke's sake but for Zack's protection. Luke wasn't a very nice sight when he was fighting someone. I've seen him fight multiple times.

Nicole changes the subject sort of "Well whatever position you're playing I'll be cheering for you" she says sweetly, very unlike her usual tone. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Nicole is a cheerleader.

Zack looks down at her and smiles "thanks beautiful" and kisses her cheek as she blushes.

I have to look away to stop myself from showing a look of hurt on my face and I look next to me to see Luke clenching his teeth hard.

This is going to be a long day.
