The wind howled like a hungry beast through the barren, lifeless finger-like branches of the trees. A mansion lay dormant in the middle of the forest, like a predator waiting for its prey. Its chimneys twisted into the air, as if trying to drag the sky down to the ground.
Edgar, weary and needing shelter from the torrential downpour,came across the mansion. He saw the great iron gate, rusted into a colour that resembled blood. They swung open as he approached, like the mouth of the devil opening to consume an innocent soul. He approached the house.
