Soulmate au where when you mark your skin it shows up on your soulmate as well.
Kids Namgi use this to their advantage, playing hangman on the backs of their hands, helping each other with homework. They don't realize they're going to the same college until one catches sight if their matching tattoo on the other.

I've been thinking about this for such a long time

So like - seven year old mess Yoongi who is like gripping a purple marker in his fist and scrawling "eat worms", "make mud pie", "squish bugs" and five year old genius Namjoon is furiously crossing them out when they appear on his hand and writing "don't" in front with a black ink pen, his thick glasses sliding down his tiny nose.

Then school-aged Namgi playing hangman on the back of their hands - they like it because they're pretty evenly matched at making words. Sometimes Yoongi takes a really long time to take his turn but Namjoon doesn't mind and he always draws extra stuff like eyebrows and toes on the little hangman if Yoongi is having an off day. (Optional angst, Yoongi takes a long time because he has a hard home life)

In high school Yoongi realizes his soulmate must be really smart when he hurriedly scribbles down the extra credit equation from the board in his calculus class on the back of his hand on his way out of the classroom, and when he sits down in his next class and glances at it, it's solved. He makes sure to keep that in mind for future math work, writing functions he is struggling with on the back of his hand and waiting as the answer appears, always in neat black ink.

Yoongi is a sophomore in college and Namjoon is a senior in high school now
Namjoon looks down at his forearm one day to see a string of hastily scribbled...lyrics? A poem? He is laying in bed and yawns, rubbing his eyes as he reads it over again. It's three lines of a four line verse. He doesn't want to overstep but he has an idea for the fourth line so he pens it in. The next day there is a second verse in the same spot and Namjoon does the same.

In September of that year Yoongi steps out of the shower and does a double take when he sees the ink on his forearm. It's on his right arm, the one they don't generally communicate with since they both seem to be right handed - and it's a tree. A black outline of a tree and Yoongi loves it. He admires it all day, so when he glances down and see's the word "sorry" on the back of his left hand he just shakes his head and draws a little heart next to the tree to show that he likes it and there's no need to apologize.
(Namjoon got the tattoo for his eighteenth birthday)

Yoongi thinks about it for a long time and then he finally works up the guts and adds to the tattoo, just the silhouette of a few birds flying over. He just wanted it to be his too. When he looked down at it the next morning there was a heart drawn in by the birds. He smiled.

Yoongi's junior year of college and Namjoon's freshman year.
Yoongi is an RA. Neither of them know they are attending the same school - until Yoongi is stepping out of his room and watching a boy storm down the hall and through the door to the room across from his. He's tall and he's wearing headphones with music blasting so loud Yoongi can hear it too - and on his exposed forearm is a tattoo of a tree with birds flying over it. The door slams behind the boy and Yoongi stares in disbelief.

Was that...his soulmate? He looks down at his arm, his heart suddenly beating way too fast. He goes back into his room and shuts the door.
