"Hunter, I'll just go to my neighbors and get them to drive me to your house." Yeesh.
"Oh alright. I uh, I'll see you when you get here." He sounds like he put his foot in his mouth, and gets really nervous.
"Alright bye."
He hangs up and I just look at my phone.
Why did he get so upset when I said I was going back? He knows I'm going to go back anyways, so why does he think I'll change my mind?
Slowly climbing down from the tree and making my way back from where I came is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Every time I step on a branch I wince, its like walking through a room full of needles sticking in my feet. I guess I was going so fast and had some much adrenaline pumping before I didn't notice what all I was stepping on.
After walking for what felt like years in the darkness and painful sticks, I finally come close to the backyard, close enough I can see the back porch lights on.
"ALY!" I hear Jack cry. "ALY I LOVE YOU COME BACK I'M SORRY!" I slowly rise up, ready to go back, but realize Hunter is expecting me, so I lay low.
I move over slowly and then sprint out to the front to where he can't see me. I look on either side of the street and then run across and knock on the door, praying someone is awake at this hour.
As the door opens I realize I probably have a black eye and blood on my face and they will ask what's happening. I look away so that they won't see my bad eye.
The door slowly opens and I accidentally make eye contact with the girl, she gasps.
So much for hiding it.
"Oh my gosh sweetie whats wrong? What happened?! Come in!"

"Actually can you just drive me to my friends house? I swear I will never bother you again just need to get to my friends house, please." I plead, trying to stay as calm as possible.
"Sure." She says frantically nodding. "Do you want me to call the cops I-"
"No! I mean, sorry I don't need cops. Just please can you drive me?"
"Yeah," her eyes are wide and she probably thinks I'm crazy. "Whatever you need." She grabs her keys and I tell her where to go. There is a brief silence as we get in her car and pull out of her driveway, not that I'm shocked. A random girl shows up on your porch beat up and asks you to drive her to another strangers house, I wouldn't know what to say either. "So, uh, which house do you live in?" she asks, I guess trying to make small talk.
Her hair is bleach blonde and she's about Hunter and I's age. She's beautiful and it makes me wonder why Hunter doesn't have a girl as pretty as her, he deserves to be happy.
"I - uh, I live at 607, the -the big white house." I say a little embarrassed.
Her eyes widen and she nods her head, never taking her eyes off the road. "Oh."
My gaze moves up towards her "Oh? 'Oh' what?" I ask anxiously.
"Oh nothing its just..." She looks over at me with sympathetic eyes. "nothing." she shakes her head returning her eyes to the road.
"Seriously, what is it?" I beg grabbing onto her arm lightly.
"It's just," She's still contemplating whether to tell me or not and throwing one of her arms up a little.
"Please!"
She lets out a deep sigh, and turns the corner. "Okay okay, me and my roommate always hear you guys arguing and-"
"Oh my gosh! You can hear us?!" I put my hand over my mouth.
"Well, not what you two are saying, just yelling." I move my head in my right hand and lean it against her window. Then she does something that as totally unexpected of a stranger. She grabs my other hand and starts rubbing it with her thumb. "Its okay sweetie, everything is going to be alright." I completely brake down and she's right there with me. "Hey, hey, whats your name hun?"
I wipe my face and breathe normally so I can answer her. "Its, Alyssa, but you can call me Aly."
"Well Aly, I'm Rebekah. Please don't hesitate to call me whenever okay? I'm here for you." She says putting her hand on my shoulder. Her deep blue eyes are locked onto mine and I know she's trying to read me. Too bad for her that she's not Hunter.
"Thanks." I force a smile to be polite, I honestly wanted to punch her. Not because she's mean or anything, she's just so perfect. She is really nice, but she isn't overly nice, she knows exactly what to say and her looks are so angelic its almost sickening.
We come to a red light. "Look," she says turning to me. "I figured I knew whats going on in your house, and if anything, seeing what happened to you tonight only verified that. I know we just met like 2 minutes ago but honestly its not worth it. I know I don't know you but I know what you've been through. I was in the wrong relationship with the wrong guy and it almost cost me my life." The light turns green and she starts to drive again.
I look up at her in shock that she has the nerve to say that to me. "Look Rebekah, I didn't ask you for a ride to be told what I do wrong okay? I know that I'm a screw up!" My shout fades into a mumble. "Tell me something I don't know."
"NO!" She yells as we pull up to his apartment complex. I go to get out of the car and walk on my own but she shuts the door and locks it. "YOU," she points at me and I just look at her glove box. "Are not a screw up! Just because you're in a screwed up relationship doesn't mean you are a screw up okay?" I hold my head up with my arm looking down and I feel another tear hit my leg. "You are not your mistakes." I look over and instead of saying anything I hug her. She's in shock for a second but then quickly hugs me back. "Tell your friend that she needs to let you stay in her apartment, for a while."
I giggle and pull back. "Actually its a guy."
"Ohh, is he cute?" She asks then laughs at herself.
I nod my head and shrug a little, "Yeah I guess."
A smile creeps onto her face "Go, and don't come out until he's yours." She goofily says while poking my shoulder. Yeah, like me and Hunter are ever going to be a thing. Her poke hurts really bad but I just take it in and try not to cream. "I want to see you come back into the neighborhood tomorrow and get your stuff."
"Thank you so much Rebekah." I hug her again even though it hurts so bad that I almost scream.
"No problem. You know where to find me, I'll get your number later. GO GET THAT BOY!" She giggles, pointing to the apartments. Then she unlocks the door and I climb out thanking her again.
I take a deep breath and try to prepare myself for the huge the I told you so I'm about to get,
and deserve.
