What did she get into?

Here's another crappy story for y'all to read.

Light flooded into Elizabeth's eyes as she opened them. She blinked a couple of times and sat up in her bed. The clock read 6:50. She groaned as she walked over to the closet and pulled on some clothes. She tied her dark brown hair into a ponytail and grabbed her backpack, shoving her computer into it. She put on her black hoodie and grabbed her keys on her way out the door.
"Goodbye, Julie!" She called out as she closed the door.
She heard a muffled "Bye, Liz!" and she walked down the corridor. As she walked out into the bright dawn, she pulled her hood over her head, covering her face. She walked to the bus stop and took the nearest bus to San Francisco State University.
She quietly got out her things and set up her computer as her professor started the class. She wrote notes as the hours ticked by. He passed back the tests and set three down on her desk.
"I need to talk to you about your grades." The professor said seriously.
Liz gulped and said, "What happened?"
"Your grades are the highest in the class." His serious tone was replaced with a smile. A wave of relief flooded over her as she looked down to see amazing grades. The class ended and students were free to go home. She got out of the classroom and pulled her hood back on. The wave of students crowded the halls, so she walked out of the back entrance. As soon as she stepped out the door, she felt something being pulled over her head as the world faded to black.
Liz opened her eyes and the light of the world flooded into them again. She inhaled deeply and she was regaining her blurry vision. Her hands were cuffed onto the metal chair she was sitting on and there was a metal table in front of her. The door opened suddenly and a pale man walked in.
"Glad to see your awake." He said with a smile. She couldn't tell if it was fake or not. "Elizabeth Parr."
"Where am I? Why am I here?" Questions flooded her brain as the man pulled the chair back and sat down in front of her.
"You're here to tell us the answers we need to know." He said, his tone becoming serious.
"Us? We? Who else is here?" She asked.
"I'm the only one you need to worry about." He said, pretending to be reassuring.
"And me." Said a person as they walked in.
"April, what are you doing here?" He asked with shock.
"It's Makensie when we're in the field." The person said as they walked towards me. The voice sounded like a female's. "And if you want answers, you know I can get them." The light illuminated her face to reveal a tough-looking, Asian woman.
"Fine, it's all yours," he said as he got backed up and leaned against the wall.
"What field? I still don't understand, why am I here?" I said, perplexed.
"I'm the one who asks the questions," Makensie said, sternly. "What is she doing here exactly?" she sort-of whispered to the man.
"That's why you don't just barge into an interrogation without even knowing what it's about!" he half-screamed.
"Ok, ok calm down," she sighed. "What do you know about the government?"
"What do you mean? Like presidents and stuff?"
"No, I mean organizations, and directors."
"Well, I know about A.R.M.O.R and W.I.N.G.S," she said slowly. "But their directors are always hidden and kept in the dark. Some even say that they're dead organizations"
"Welcome to W.I.N.G.S." and he turned on the lights, revealing a symbol on the wall. It was a pair of wings surrounding a globe.
"Are you sure this is the right play?" The girl whispered lightly enough for Liz not to hear.
"Yes, you know my judgment is always right," he said. "Mostly..."
"No way!" Liz said as she sat there in shock but soon remembered that her hands were still cuffed to the chair.
"I apologize if we seemed threatening."
"If you didn't want to threaten me, then why did you put a bag over my head and cuff my hands to a chair?"
"Oh!" he said as he uncuffed her hands hastily. "Sorry, it's protocol."
"Just like how you can't and will never learn the whereabouts of this base, or any other bases" Makensie replied.
"April, calm down," the man started.
"I told you, it's Makensie!" her tone started to get angrier.
"Ok, ok," he said, putting his hands up in defeat. "Oh, by the way, I'm Paul Connors, but you can call me Connors."
"Umm ok, but I still don't really understand why exactly am I here?"
"Because you're smart, and that's dangerous," Connors replied.
"I don't understand how that's dangerous, but why me? Aren't there other people smarter than me?"
"Yeah, but you're naive," Makensie added.
"No offense," Connors interrupted and Makensie gave him a death stare. "Sorry, I'm just trying not to be rude," He muttered under his breath.
"Come on Elizabeth," Makensie said, motioning her to the door. "We need to hurry."
"Liz is fine," Liz said as Connors rolled his eyes, grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the room. Even more light came into view as they opened the door. She squinted and could barely see. By the time her eyes adjusted to the brightness, she was already being dragged to a new location. They pulled her into another dark room and locked the door.
"Why do you keep dragging me?!" she half-screamed.
"Shut up! Do you want to get caught?" Makensie snapped and turned back to the computer she was typing on.
"What she means is that nobody knows you're here and we really don't trust anyone. Except for each other, of course." he stopped and turned to Makensie and she rolled her eyes and softened her expression.
"I think that's the first time I've seen you let out any other emotion except anger," she added. She became angry again and turned back to the monitor. She typed in a series of codes and the wall in front of us opened, revealing a laboratory, which they assumed was empty. They were wrong. We walked in and Connors automatically started touching stuff and being all nerdy with technology and stuff. Then Makensie told him to cut it out, and he froze like a deer in headlights. Suddenly, she did too, and they slowly turned their gaze to the door. It opened with a loud beep and we were standing like sitting ducks in the middle of the room, in perfect alignment with the door. They were three idiots standing very still. Luckily, it was not who they thought it was.
Two young adults walked into the room and when they saw them, their jaws dropped like they just saw a ghost. The door automatically closed behind them, concealing the room again.
"Finn, Skyla," Connors sighed. "Just the people we needed."
"I thought you went into hiding?" said the boy with a Scottish accent, which Liz was assuming was Finn.
"It's really dangerous for you to be here director," said the girl with a British accent.
"Director?" she turned to Connors. "You're the director?"
"Well," he said with an embarrassed look on his face. "I used to be the director until the organization got compromised." He turned to Makensie and back to Finn and Skyla. "We need you guys to do something for us." he then went up to them and started saying some stuff Liz really didn't understand. She just assumed it was coded language, and shook it off. Then Liz went over to Makensie and stood next to her.
"So, how long have you've known Connors?"
"A long time, keep your voice down. There are ears and eyes everywhere." Then she pointed to a camera that was concealed in the shadows of the room. It was blinking red, which meant it was on. Smart. Liz thought as she turned back to her and whispered so no one would hear.
"Where are we going to go, and why do you still need me?" She sighed and said,
"It's a long story, but-" she was cut off by a loud siren and the whole room trembling. Lots of things fell onto the floor and they all stumbled. It lasted for about five minutes and they got up again. "We need to leave," she paused while gathering some stuff. "Now!"
"Is it an earthquake?"
"No, that's not possible," Connors answered.
"We're on a plane," Skyla added.
"What?! Why are we on a plane?!"
"No time for questions, just move," Finn said and pushed her and Skyla out of the room. Soon, they were inside a garage and there was a smaller plane.
"Get in," Connors rushed as we ran into the plane. He pushed some buttons and the garage doors opened to reveal clouds. Finn, Skyla, Makensie, and Liz rushed inside the plane, which was bigger than it looked, and Makensie went into the cockpit.
"Please tell me you know how to fly this thing?"
"Sort-of," Makensie replied. She pushed many buttons and started to lift the plane.
"Wait, where's Connors?"
"He's coming, don't worry,"
"How will he get on if the plane is in the air?" Liz half-screamed since the plane was producing a loud noise. She went to the back of the plane and saw that it was open. Then Liz saw Connors running and she knew what he was going to do. He ran and he jumped, and he landed inside the plane, just in time to close the doors.
"That was crazy!" Liz said as she sighed in relief. "What were you thinking!"
"Umm, I wasn't?"
"Are you ok?" Makensie said as she came to the back.
"Wait, if you're here, who's driving the plane?!"
"Don't worry, it has an autopilot," they all said.
"W-what? How did you guys manage to get your hands on technology like this?"
"Don't worry about that, what we need to worry about is where we are going."
"Somewhere far away," Makensie added while she walked back to her seat. Skyla and Finn sat across from Liz and Connors.
"But I still don't understand why I have to stay with you guys. It's evening and I have to go home to my little cousin, Julia." Liz complained.
"If you go home, you'll be in danger and you'll put your cousin in danger too."
"Fine," she grumbled and Skyla giggled.
"I believe we haven't met yet," Skyla said.
"Skyla Jackman," Finn said while pointing to Skyla.
"Finn Larsen," Skyla said while pointing to Finn. "People always call us Jack-Larsen,"
"I'm Elizabeth Parr,"
"We're the scientist of the group," Finn continued. "Skyla works with biology,"
"And Finn works with engineering."
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance." They both said in unison and held out their hands. She shook both of them and they returned back to work on whatever they were working on.
After a couple of hours, it was really dark and the only light was coming from the cockpit. Liz could just barely see the outlines of Jack-Larson, and they were leaning on each other fast asleep.
"I ship it," she whispered, and Connors replied,
"Me too," His voice trailed off. Soon, the jet filled with silence and before they knew it, they fell asleep and silence. Unbearable silence for Makensie, so she decided to take a break. Liz was a very light sleeper, so she woke up when she came over.
"Where are we going?" she whispered as Makensie sat next to her.
"We are going to visit some old friends, they'll know what to do." she stopped herself from saying more and closed her eyelids.
"Cool. What are their names?"
"You'll know soon enough." as soon as she stopped talking, the plane started shaking violently. Makensie shot up and rushed to the cockpit, Liz rushing behind her to see what was going on. Soon, everyone on the plane was awake and stirring, trying to find out what was wrong.
"What's happening?" Connors yelled across the plane.
"I don't know!" Liz yelled back.
"All we know is that it's coming down hard and fast!" Makensie yelled even louder.
"Everyone, strap in!"
They all sat down and strapped themselves in and held on for their lives.
"This is not the way I imagined dying!"
"Shut up! We're not gonna die!" Makensie yelled over the loud beeping and wind. "I hope so," she mumbled the last part. Soon, there was a big crash and the plane shook. There was a loud silence, but instead of hard land, the plane was slowly sinking. Makensie, just a bit shook, got up and looked out the pilot's window.
"Guys, this is bad!"
"What happened?" Connors asked as we all followed her.
"I think we might be at the bottom of Lake Ontario," she said as she pointed to the water illuminated by the red blinking light.
"Lake Ontario?!" I half-screamed. "We're in New York?!"
Makensie rubbed the back of her neck and said, "Well, they live in New York City, how else would we get there?"
"So you mean to say when we were on the bigger plane, we were somewhere over Ohio?!"
Connors slowly nodded his head.
"Jeez, How long was I knocked out for?"
"five hours and forty minutes, to be exact," Makensie said.
"WHAT?!" Liz screamed.
"Guys, we have bigger problems!" Finn screamed as the silence was replaced with the sound of rushing water filling the jet. Soon, they were ankle-deep in water and it was rushing in fast.
"Guys, I'm going to break the glass and everyone swim out!" Connors yelled over the noise.
"Ok!" Liz said since she didn't have any better ideas.
Connors thrust his arm towards the glass and it shattered, leaving nothing between them and the wild wind with the great lake's swallowing water. It was a beautiful sight to behold, the little rays of the sun, barely reaching the bottom of the lake, mixed with the silenced water rushing in. It was like the water kept its shape when the glass broke, and it was just a wall of water protecting them. But that was only for a millisecond because no good things ever last.
Water slammed into the team as it left them blind and deaf to what was before them, their vision fading in and out. Their minds fading in and out of consciousness. Their bodies shifting on and off. But nevertheless, they persisted. Connors helped Liz up to the surface, barely making it before gasping for air. Their head broke the surface of the water and when they gasped, their lungs filled with air. Makensie, of course, made it by herself, and they dragged themselves onto a rock. Soon, Finn emerged from the water, and gracefully swam to them.
Makensie gave him a weird look and he just shrugged his shoulders and said,
"What?  I took swimming lessons as a child. Is that a sin?"
Makensie laughed a bit and shook her head.
"Wow, you actually laugh?" Liz giggled and they all started laughing.
"Wait!" Then, they suddenly halted and Finn's face quickly turned pale. "Where's Skyla?"
Before Liz could even blink, Finn dived into the water breaking the surface once more, and causing a ripple. Under the surface, Finn could barely see. The light seemed to disappear the deeper he swam, and soon, it was pitch black, and he could slightly see an outline of a person. He swam deeper, very few rays reaching the bottom of the lake. When he came closer, he saw Skyla struggling to break free from a plant that had entangled her leg. He swam, head first, extending his arm out for her to reach. She extended her arm and there were a couple of centimeters from each other. They struggled to reach one another. The more Skyla swam up, the more she fell down. Finn was slowly rising to the top and was panicking. But in some unknown way, the plant snapped underneath her leg and she was free. She grabbed Finn's arm, but not before inhaling water. She was quickly losing oxygen and Finn was swimming as quickly as he could. Soon, he broke to the surface and they all helped Skyla to shore.
They laid her down on the rocky surface of the shore and Connors felt her pulse.
"Her pulse is still active," he said as everyone sighed. "But she might be out for a while. The human brain stops functioning after 2 minutes without oxygen, and that was close."
Finn went closer to her and lightly shook her. "Come on, Skyla,"
"Wake up!" Liz called.
"Please wake up," he whispered.
"Skyla, please wake up!" Liz called again, raising her voice.
"For me," he mumbled so low, no one could hear. But Skyla did. She gasped for air and fluttered her eyelids open.
"F-Finn?" she exasperatedly said.
"Skyla!" he sighed and they hugged each other before sharing a tender kiss.
Connors and Liz squealed in the background while Makensie slapped them both in the head.
"I thought I'd be dead!" She sighed as she laid back down.
"Well you saved me from drowning before, I thought I'd return the favor." He grinned.
"What does he mean by 'saved me before from drowning?" Liz whispered to them.
"Never mind that, we need to leave," Makensie said as she walked over to them. "Sorry to interrupt this moment, but we need to meet up with them."
"Okay," Skyla said as Finn helped her up. "We need to leave now."
They walked on and Liz said, "I still don't know who we're going to meet."
"You'll see soon enough," they said in unison as they all walked on.
After some time, they got to a simple looking house with a motorcycle parked to the side. They got to the doorstep and were greeted by two tall men and a short-in-comparison woman. The first one walked up to them and said, "Wow, you guys look horrible!" and the other ones laughed.
"Liz, meet Taylor, Mitchell, the one in front of us, and the girl back there is Sofiya," Connors said as Sofiya rolled her eyes and came closer to give him a hug.
"Let's go inside." When they walked inside and shut the door, everyone else dispersed and Liz started to walk off, but Sofiya stopped her.
"I need you to do something for me," she said and knocked Liz out cold. "She's in place for the next mission."
"Are you sure?"
"She's ready."

Phew. That was exhausting. Sorry for coughing up more crap for y'all to read. I'm working in more stories and I MIGHT make part two's to these. Peace! ✌️ ❤️
