“What happened?” I exclaimed.

“I didn’t see him properly. My first instinct was to knock him out before I took any chances”. Tyler sighed then looked into my eyes, “I’m sorry”.

“Okay” I accepted. Tyler truly meant his apology.

“Hey, at least he’ll know what’ll happen if he breaks your heart” we both laughed.

I sat beside the body. “Oh, Jake” I spoke softly knowing he most likely didn’t hear me.

Jake’s my boyfriend. We’d been together for three months before this incident. We went on romantic, yet unusual dates. Our first dinner date was at McDonalds where he bought me a happy meal. He told me I couldn’t have the toy until I’d finished eating. That night he proved that it doesn’t matter where you go as long as you have a good time. Another date of ours was to this 24 hour gym he attended. He made sure to get all hot and sweaty for me. His exact words were ‘you have to accept my after gym state because I’ll always accept your appearance no matter what’.

Tyler interruption snatched me from memory lane. “I’m going to call Macey; she’s studying medicine so she should be able to help us”.

“Really? Macey?” I questioned. Macey –Tyler’s girlfriend- wasn’t one of my favourite people. She had a habit of getting on my nerves. She acted like she was better than me, prettier and more popular than me. Maybe she was prettier and more popular than me but walking around with her nose stuck up in the air did not make her better than me.

“Would you prefer I called mum?” he answered.

The option ran through my head. “Fine” I groaned “Call Macey”.

If Tyler were to call mum, she’s flip out. She would have given us a four hour lecture and would never let us live this day down.

There was no change with Jake. He hadn’t had any major head injuries only a little lump on the back of his head.

After Tyler’s convincing chat as to why Macey should visit us alone, he hung up and returned to me. “She’s on her way”.

From my sitting position next to Jake’s unconscious body I faced Tyler “What if he’s in a coma?”

Tyler sat beside me. His stomach churned from guilt “We can only hope he’s okay”.

I started thinking over the occurrence in the forest. “Tyler, how did you pull open that trap? Aren’t they super strong?”

He took a moment to reply “I don’t know”.

“You said I healed as you expected. What does that mean? How did I do that?” Questions were jumping out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

“I used the theory that if I healed like that then you would too” he was right.

I pondered through the possibilities. “What’s wrong with us?”.

Tyler didn’t say anything, he simply shrugged his shoulders.

Tiny movements from Jake startled me. He opened his eyes, raising his head.

“What, what’s going on?” he murmured. “Oh man, how’d I get this massive headache?”

I couldn’t help but giggle. He was just too cute to resist.

There was a knock at the door only a second before Macey barged in.
