Discovery

We lay together, darkness all around,
I listen to her constant breath,
and when I thought she slept,
I too fell asleep.
But something stirred me, why I...
she was staring at me with her eyes,
her breasts still sturdy,
her thigh warming mine.
And I, a little shaken as she stroked
my skin and kissed my brow,
reached for the light turned on,
feeling for the heat which would
reveal how long she had looked
and cared.
The bulb was hot. It burned my hand.
