THAT MORNING Evelyn woke up feeling more refreshed than ever, having breakfast had never felt so good. The birds sang better, the air felt fresher and her hair didn't look like a bird's nest for once.

Getting dressed in the days she didn't work, was becoming a challenge for the soon to be college student, it forced her brain to work excessively and that's the last thing she needed at the moment. Her Purdue scholarship application had been accepted a month into the summer of 1985, but Evelyn was still worried about the economics of it all.

Even though she had gotten a job, to try to help her mum with additional costs that unfortunately for the Henderson's were not included into the scholarship program, there was a part inside of her that was preparing her for the downfall.

Those thoughts flooded her head every now and again, meaning, she couldn't really get a day's rest for once.

As she ate her bowl of Lucky Charms, she reminded herself that she had the whole day to enjoy and not be tortured by a bunch of kids who can't swim and a guy trying to bang her friend's mom. A ringing noise coming from her room interrupted her train of thought, which for the girl, was kind off relieving in a way.

"You have reached the Henderson's, this is Evelyn speaking" Instantly, the girl recognized the young voice of the one and only, Max Mayfield, "Hey Ev, it's Max".

"Hello Maxine. What can I do for you on this wonderful bright morning?" Evelyn couldn't help but to slip a bit of good old Max type sarcasm into her answer, resulting in a snicker from the other end of the line.

"Honestly, I don't know how you're not a telephone operator by now" A chuckle escaped the older girl's lips, as she nodded along the redhead's joke. "Anyway, I was wondering if you would like to come and help me with some skateboard tricks, maybe we could watch a movie, or- or I don't know... watch that new Alex P. Keaton movie at the mall?".

Ever since the events of the past year, Max and Evelyn had become good friends, some could even say they became each other's sister they never had. Knowing well how difficult the teen's step-brother could be, Evelyn enjoyed spending time with the younger girl, she was much cooler than herself at her age.

"Max, you know you don't need an excuse to see me, okay? But I did promise Steve I'd drop by the mall sometime during the day, so maybe after all we can go to the movies."

After agreeing on meeting at Max's house, Evelyn grabbed her purse, her wallet and headed for the door. As she neared her destination, a blur with a hat on, skipped past her at an impressively fast speed, almost knocking her over as her brother got to the door before her.

"Dustin! Where are you going in such a rush? Oh! and... Ouch!" Finally, catching up with her little brother, Evelyn smacked him across the head, making him rub his hat with ache.

"Sorry! I'm going to the mall to see Steve. I have some urgent business to deal with " Before his sister could further question him about his business he opened the door and sprinted out of the driveway in his bike.

Having been left standing by her brother, Evelyn ignored what had just happened and headed to 4819 Cherry Lane.

TAKING HER SKATEBOARD out of the trunk of her car, she was met with a sick looking Billy Hargrove walking down the footpath of his house.

Billy generally took excellent care of himself, he was healthy looking and never had a hair out of place. This version of the boy that was approaching Evelyn, who had conveniently parked next to his familiar blue Camaro, looked as if he had been crushed by a stampede.
