Enough Is Enough

By Jordan Garcia

It's okay to feel as though you haven't got everything right. It's okay to feel like the whole world is out to get you. It's okay to think that you aren't perfect. And it is most definitely okay to believe that life can be crappy.

You don't need to have everything figured out the minute you're born. You don't need the world's approval. Nobody in this world is perfect, and you don't have to be either. And sometimes you just have to overlook the crap to see the things worth living for.

You are allowed to take life one step at a time. Plan for today and look forward to tomorrow. Know that no matter what step you take, it doesn't determine your worth. You still have people in your heart who love you even for the mistakes you make. You're going to mess up, it's called being human. And your mistakes, no matter how bad, can always be amended.

Not everyone is going to like you, but not everyone matters. The only opinion you need is yours. You don't need to concern yourself with people who don't understand what it's like being you. No one is going to understand what it's like being you. But that doesn't mean you're alone, because you aren't.

Perfection isn't a simple definition. There is no such thing as a perfect circle. No such thing as a perfect song, or a perfect movie, or even a perfect day. No one expects perfection. You should learn to be enough for yourself. You should learn to be okay with who you are. And if you don't know who you are? Well, you've got the rest of your life to figure that out.

There are going to be good moments in life, and then there are worse moments. You just have to pick the ones you like better and move on from the rest. Life can be torturous to those of us who let it be. You can't take life by the shoulders and shake it into submission, but you can shake its hand and greet it every day.

Start the day with a nice cup of coffee – or tea, whatever your preference. Fill the day with laughter and the people you love. End the day with the knowledge that you tried your best, and that's what really matters.

People can tell you day in and day out what to think, what to do, how to breathe, how to walk, how to simply tie your shoes. It's your choice whether or not to listen to them. Your choice to be brainwashed by people who aren't you, and who don't know how to think the way you do. Your choice about whether or not you're going to buy the chocolate bar at the gas station. Your choice to make if you want to take your dog for a walk or watch TV with your family. Your choice to ignore the stares while you eat your third cupcake. Your choice to simply live your life.

Me? I choose coffee. I choose to believe that the world can be crappy, but I can push that aside and still live my life. I choose not to tie my shoes. I choose to eat the fourth cupcake cause damn are they delicious. I'm going to choose not to buy the candy bar because I just ate four cupcakes. I am going to choose to ignore the stares and live my damn life the way I want to.

I am enough. I am enough for myself.

You are enough. You are enough for yourself.

Screw anyone who says otherwise.
