S1C2. Ease My Mind

The morning sun shined through the window onto the number two hero, Endeavor. His eyes stammered open and felt cozily cool until he noticed that his arms were wrapped around Rei. He blushed deeply, noticing her shirt was lifted up slightly as well.

"Hey uh..rei..." enji quietly spoke but she was cuddling his arm as well. "..noo...you're warm.." she quietly murmured. "you're kinda chilly. plus i need to go on my morning jog.". Rei shot up instantly. "Wait, really?? Can i go with you??" she asked with her voice being soft and raspy in the morning.

"Fine. Just don't take too long to get ready." he got up and rubbed his eyes looking a little angry, orr usual though. "Okay. Remember- today you're my boyfriend. I'm gonna be a better girlfriend though!" she chuckled and headed out the door. "Hah! Doubt it! I'll be a better boyfriend!" he ran up to rei and she laughed and ran into the bathroom to shower.

"You two seem to be getting a long well." Marinette said coming in through the door putting down more groceries on the table. Enji quickly blushed and hid away his face. "Whatever whatever..., you scared me.".

Marinette started making breakfast and asking how the day went. Enji gave her a little summary of the day and Marinette asked a question. "I'm sorry sir if this is too much of me to ask.. but can i take half a day off today? If not that's okay, i just want to take my daughter somewhere for her birthday since i missed it the past two years..but i understand if i cant."

Enji felt pity. He knew what it felt like to have your birthday being forgotten. "Oh uh, yeah sure. Yeah of course, here. Tell you what. Take the week off. I'll manage. And uh, mari? Give the kid a good gift." Enji wrote out a check to Marinette. She looked at the gift and began tearing up. "Thank you..so much...i don't know what made you think to do this..but thank you. She'll love it. Has the girl made you see differently?" Marinette laughed and wiped her eyes.

"Yeah yeah whatever. I just want you to have a good time with your kid off. That's all. And don't go telling the world i did this for ya. Only because you've been nothing but good." He scoffed causing Mari to laugh. Down the hall he heard rei humming in the shower. Enji chuckled and hopped in some comfy clothes for his jog. He realized he not only needed to wash up, he also left his phone charging in the bathroom. What an idiot.

Slowly, he knocked on the door. "Rei? Is it okay if i just wash up real quick and grab my phone? I can wait if you want, i just uh..thought we could be ready at the same time so we can go.". She popped her head past the curtain so that way he could hear. "Yeah of course, i'm still in the shower and the curtains are closed so it's cool!".

He walked in and felt the room extremely cold. Enji began washing up ignoring the mirror. He looked up into the mirror and saw the curtains to the shower. Out of respect, he tried not to look, but curiosity got the best of him. The light shined through the thin curtain and showed the shadow of Rei's body. Enji heavily blushed and quickly finished washing up so he can head out. "Thanks, i'll be waiting in the kitchen. Uh...do you like protein bars?". "Yeah!" she said, enji responding with a "Great, uh..i'll go get ready." and he walked out, noticing he was on fire.

"shit. okay. uh...protein bars...". 10 minutes passed and enji finally found the snacks. Rei walked out and was ready to go. "So..where do you usually run? I mostly run down and stop to get something to eat and walk back! How about you?"

"Hah. That's what i do. I usually run from here into the city. Plus, with your plan, if we walk into the city at this time..more people will see us." enji grinned and locked the door.

"Haha! Okay. Make it look natural. Let's go, boyfriend!" she seemed energetic, light bags under her eyes but her will to move is fantastic. They ran down into the city and already saw people pointing out enji, considering he's hard to miss. Rei sped up a bit and stuck her tongue out at Enji. He grinned and sped up next to her. Flash. Click. Click. Click. Flash. Some people were taking pictures. Rei gave enji a thumbs up and they stopped to grab a bite to eat.
